British gas cavity insulation questions & experiences?
Thinking of applying for this on behalf of my parents and just wondering if I can enter my own details on the MSE form with my parents address? as I want British Gas to deal with me rather than my parents. What details do they need when they call and later do the survey? We're mainly interested in cavity insulation as…

Npower nightmare
I switched online to npower from British gas roughly 6 months ago, I never heard anything from them so assumed it hadn't gone ahead. 2 months later I realised I hadn't received my quarterly bill from British gas & gave them a call, they told me I no longer have an account with them, so I rang npower. The lady was very…

Extortionate and Inconsistent Electricity Bills
In July last year I moved into supported accommodation, a 1 bedroom flat with me as sole occupant. For the first few months my electricity bills seemed OK averaging approx. £40 per month. Then I received my bill for 19/11/13 - 13/12/13, and this came to £114.52. I paid this and the following month reduced the settings on…

First Utility Price Rise
From 1st April F-U have changed their tariffs. I was on iSave v14 which was consistently showing as a good tariff for my usage on comparison sites. They have abolished that tariff and put me on iSave Everyday. I ran that through the comparison site and it showed me a £600 per year saving with the the F-U iSave Fixed May…

Why have I not had an inspector read my meter in over 7 years
I've been with my utility provider for 7 years and have never had an inspector read. I'm currently moving supplier so I'm hoping this will change. I've had meter man readings plus my own but never one from the inspector. Has anyone else had this issue?

New House - SSE, supplied - storage heating - expensive?
Hi there, This may turn into quite a long winded query but I'm hoping someone out there can be more help than the person I got with Scottish Hydro. We have just moved into a bungalow which is on the standard tarrif rate with SSE and has a 'key' meter due to a past tenant debt. I have been assured by SSE that the rate I am…

I looked in my David Wilson handbook and all it says…

Strange EDF retention letter..
Why dont businesses ever listen to their customers? My fixed price EDF was coming to an end. I received some mailshots saying they would kindly transfer me to their blue promise deal. I checked their fixed blue deal but found a better deal so initiated a transfer. The transfer is now complete and I'm with my new supplier.…

NPower hiking estimated projected usage!
Got my most recent bill, which came as a bit of a shock, but when the dust settled, I realised it was for a 7 month period and not 6. However, NPower had then calculated my anticipated usage for the next 12 months at an inflated rate, increasing my estimated use by 20% aprox for both gas and electricity. They even included…

How do I check my actual E7 meter timings
I've an economy 7 meter & tariff. It's a 5196d digital meter. I suspect there's something up with the time settings - the immersion heater is the main load which is set from 0300-0500, but the meter says that most usage is peak rate. How can I check when the meter is recording peak or off-peak rates, or what the time…

We pay £96 a month direct debit to NPower. We're £948 in credit. Our last bill was June 2013. In Feb 2014 they billed us £450 and reduced the DD to £10. Then cancelled the bill. Now they've blocked the billing. Spent 90 minutes on phone today and they wont say why, what's wrong or when it'll be sorted. I can't seem to get…

Hi all, I have just purchased a hunter boiler logburner. My fitter says I need a 450 litre thermal store to connect to for best results. I spoke to gledhill and they say I need a 250 litre. Can anyone please advise me on how you calculate the size needed. If it helps the log burner is a hunter herald 14. Thanks
