David Wilson newbuild photovoltaic cells and bills

we are with eon and received our first bill.
There is no mention of energy from our roof cells (for example you use this many units but produced this man with your cells, so pay x amount)

Do I need to call eon and will they 'link' what energy we produce to our account?
I looked in my David Wilson handbook and all it says is that we have the cells on the roof and that we could make money from them selling energy back. No mention of the practicalities of them.
Anyone else have a david wilson/barrett home? what did you do regarding these?
david wilson never told us anything we haven't queried it with them yet though.

You will need an MCS certificate from the builder and apply for FIT payments from your chosen supplier.

Always assuming that David Wilson do not operate some kind of rent a roof scheme.
Are you sure that the Solar PV system is operational.

You should have an inverter to generate mains voltage from them and some sort of inhome display.
IIWY I'd get on to David Wilson.

    Hi bee11

Hope you've settled into your new home. :)

The electricity we sell through a conventional import meter and that produced through photovoltaic cells are dealt with separately.

The bill you mention will be for electricity we've supplied through the conventional meter.

As P McGoohan says, you'll need to choose a registered Feed in Tariff (FIT) supplier to deal with the photovoltaic part of the set up. David Wilson may already have done something about this so definitely worth asking the question.

We've a specialist FIT team who can help too. They'll be able to answer your questions. There's also information on our website that might help including details of all the registered FIT licensed suppliers.

Hope this is of interest bee11.

thank you malc. I will have to look into this when I have spare time then.

Pretty mad at david wilson for not mentioning ANY of this. we have been here 8 months!! they were meant to let our energy supplier know we had moved in an give them the meter readings when we signed the deal for the house. Finally i contacted david wilson to see who we were with.

I had to contact eon myself as I had no bills through, who had no record of our house! so they never gave them the readings when we moved in and informed them of us moving in. as a result I had a near £500 bill from it being left so many months! Not a huge bill if I had being paying DD monthly but to hit us same time as I am about to go on maternity leave.

    Morning bee11

Totally understand your frustration. Receiving this sort of information late is a widespread problem within the industry as a whole.

Talk to us if you're struggling with this bill. We'll be happy to look at setting up a payment arrangement. This can both cover the ongoing usage and spread the balance over a more manageable period.

Also, when you talk to David Wilson, see if they kept a record of the meter readings at the time of the transfer. Let us know if they still have them. We can soon re-bill the account. Helps keep things accurate.

Hope this helps and best wishes with the maternity. Hope all goes well. :)

thanks malc we paid the bill in full already, thought we would just get it over an done with. will set up DD so it's more manageable.

The guy I spoke to from eon said he would contact david wilson and get the readings/date we moved in as I couldn't remember the exact date. and the date of when our bill started seems right so I think the bill is accurate thanks.

It's your responsibility as the new occupier to register for energy accounts (and water, council tax, etc) as soon as you move in. Never trust a developer/agent/LL to do this for you. Similarly, FIT's is entirely optional and it's up to you to choose a provider to claim them from. It doesn't have to be your energy provider; all the Big 6 have to operate it.

yep i know that NOW 8 months later. It's only because david wilson actually said they would do the gas an electric. I didn't assume or ask them to, they stated to us they would do it. same with ordering our council bins, stated they would do it, never did.
