EON- Here we go again.
I had an awful level of service from EON a couple of years agoand…..here we go again.
I was asked to consolidate my energy accounts last lastyear. Since then I note there have beenwithdrawals from my account. On TuesdayEON put another Pre-payment meter on my house and disconnected my supplyleaving me with no gas for heat or cooking. I received no warning except a note hand delivered through my door tellingme my account was in arrears. Inaturally thought this must be a mistake as money had been taken out as recentlyas December. Now they tell me it wasn’ta mistake and I must have the meter on for a year minimum.
A year from now I predict many issues; engineers not turningup, the meter not accepting money and me being left without gas again duringthe coldest months as well as many phone calls from me to them at their premiumrate line, then taking ages to answer only for no one to be able to tell meanything. I thought my issues werefinally over with them. Apparently not.

If you were not happy with Eon why did you not switch to a different company? Now you are on prepayment meters you can switch when/if your debt is lower than £500.
You haven't given any reason - either against Eon or in your defence. What were the problems you were having when you were on the normal meter? Did you disagree with the sums they were requesting? Did you not have enough to pay and felt you ought to have longer? Or was there no communication and amounts taken/demanded were random?0 -
Morning GeeTee99,
I remember speaking to you before.
But the problem was the gas pre-payment engineer not coming out, have you had the meter removed then a new one put back in?
We would only fit a pre-payment like this as a very last resort, we would have tried to contact you first, phone calls, letters etc. Have you not had any of these?
Even though you say you have been making payments, did you have an actual payment arrangement set up on the account? Has there been a balance outstanding for a little while?
I'm not sure I fully understand, but I'm happy to help if you need me to.

Thankyou Helena.
EONsay they sent me letters regarding a failed direct debit but I had a good lookand know I didn’t receive them. Then Igot a hand delivered letter. I thoughtit was mistake as money had been taken as recently as December. Then they fitted the meter on Tuesday with aseal that means I've had no gas for two days. There was no information when the meter was fitted I had to call manypeople to find out what was happening.
Idon’t want to deal with these people again and I certainly dont want another ofthese meters on my house again. The lastone didnt work but EON never acknowledged this due to the fact it would costthem money to re-fit it.
I'vehad enough of these people. Their proceduresseldom work and their help department are frankly no help.

Thanks for the extra information GeeTee99,
I'm sorry that you're unhappy about this.
Could you see the Direct Debit's coming out of your bank? But then we say they've failed?
Was there a debt on the account for a number of weeks/months?
I'm not sure, but I don't think we'll remove the meter now if we have acted correctly.
Do you have a device to top the meter up? Do you have gas now?

No gas. I need to pay an engineer nearly £100 pounds to remove the seal. I do not have any way of getting gas until I remove the seal.
I can see the direct debit coming out of the account but I did not receive letter from EON.0 -

This isn't my area of expertise I'm afraid, you'll need to speak to a specific department here really.
Were you at the property when the pre-payment was fitted? Is it that the gas supply has been capped?
I can help get you in contact with the team here, if you need me to.

I was not at the property when the meter was fitted.
I don't know if the gas has been capped due to the lack of any information from EON.0 -
Sounds like it could have been capped then, if you weren't at the property.
Did we leave a letter? If so ring the number on the letter to sort out what needs to happen next.
Let me know if you need any more help.

I've called the number and they tell me I have to pay nearly £100 pounds to get the gas back on. Frankly, I'm not going to pay a penny and the meter can sit there untouched and unused but I'd like an explanation as to why it was OK to leave me with no gas and no explanation as to what has happened.0

I also find it odd that a payment was made in less than three months ago but this action was deemed necessary.0
