Scottish Power Cancellation Help?
Hi, I received a phone call a few weeks ago from a young chap working in a call centre trying to sell Scottish power. I tried to end the call (I'm not rude and don't hang up). I explained I was happy with my electricity provider and that I was staying with E-on. A few days later received a letter stating that the switch…

Comparison Sites, U Switch etc.
Hi, I'm attempting to switch gas and electricity and have tried comparisons on a number of sites but they all appear to give innaccurate estimates of my existing consumption and expenditure. I have my costs for the past year and when entering these, the sites tell me I'm using much more gas and electricity than I am. So…

EON making adverse remarks on credit file
We recently contacted EON after being with them for 5 years as we noted that they were making adverse credit remarks on my credit file. They have only just started doing this within the last 5 months despite being with them 5 years. They have also added my name to my tenants bills from a house I own and rent out. EON…

PAYG meters
We're moving into our new house next week, and just been on the phone to npower about moving accounts. They've told me it has a pay as you go meter in there, which I have no idea about, I've never had one before. I've heard they are more expensive. Will they be willing to move us over to a normal direct debit payment, or…

Scottish Power. Econ7. Meter Reading query
Hi all, Got a quick question about supplying meter readings to Scottish Power. My old flat was single rate meter, this flat is an Economy 7 meter. Low reading at the top, Normal underneath. On the website the boxes you enter your reading in to aren't labeled "Low" and "Normal", but "Electricity (1)" and "Electricity (2)".…

Warm Home Discount
before you do any switching check whether you qualify for the Warm Home Discount. If you are over 60 and your household income is less than £16190 then you qualify with British Gas & Sainsburys. It is over 62 for Scottish Power. All of a sudden your saving of £60 per year has cost you £70 by not checking the Warm Home…

Npower - how long does it take existing customers to switch tariff?
I've been an npower customer for quite a number of years and on 11th November I requested a tariff switch using the 'my npower' area if the website. I had a confirmation email thanking me for requesting the switch but still to date they have not switched me and I remain on my original tariff. I have complained via email as…

Boiler sevicing
I am debating getting our boiler serviced in the next couple of months as the warranty runs out in March and I thought this way if anything needs fixing it will get done under the warranty. Is it best to get it done via Scottish Power who are our supplier or to go through someone else? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Gas bill up five fold- Advice needed!
Hi, I'm posting on behalf of a family member who is brilliant at burying her head in the sand! Basically 2 years ago our old, terminally ill/ condemned boiler finally died. Prior to the boilers demise the house was like a furnace- it's a three storey, non double glazed, edwardian semi-detached house and her yearly gas…

When to switch from fixed contract
My existing fixed term contract ends on February 3, and I will change supplier but I want to avoid paying a termination charge. Seems I cannot specify an earliest date for a switch to another supplier (most probably Sainsburys) - so what's the collective wisdom on when to apply for the switch?
