OFGEMs view of a simplier market
Been hearing about this on the BBC, does not sound disimilar to what the PM was talking about especially the bit about suppliers having to potentially tell customers about the best deal on the market. http://www.ofgem.gov.uk/Media/PressRel/Documents1/20121019_RMR.pdf

Comparrison Sites - How to Factor in Price Hikes
I want to switch tariff as I'm out of contract and on an uncompetetive tariff. But the comparrison sites just give me the cheapest tariff TODAY. 4 of the big 6 have announced prike hikes but they've not come into effect yet? How do I work out the best deal for me? Confused.com

Anyone heard of the Green Deal??
Hi. Has anybody heard of the new Green Deal that is supposedly coming into effect next year? We had a plumber look at our very old boiler & he advised us to try and hang on till next year when the government will have a grant in place for replacement to an energy A rated one, has anyone else heard of it? Thanks in advance…

Converting dual rate electricity to single rate ?
Hello, this may have been covered before? But, how to you compare prices for an electricity bill which uses a dual rate meter (this includes Economy 7 night rate as well) to move onto a single rate meter. Do i add the night rate units onto the first kw/h units and compare to the new first rate units, or do i add the night…

Confused
I live in a three bed terrace and have been paying on average £45 per month for my gas. In July 2010 Southern Electric came to my door saying they could save me money if I switched to them. Since changing supplier I have have used 2096 units to date. I am now being told that my average useage of gas per month is £112 and…

Huge electricity bill due to them!!
Hey don't know if anyone can help. I've just had a bill for over £2800 for underpayments of a electricity bill, they say it is because of the meters being a six digit meter and not five according to systems. It gets worse. They shut account down for some reason over 18 months ago and gave me a new account which I was…

Phantom offer
I got into debt with my energy company because of a mistake on their behalf. They made us an offer to pay off the arrears at a reduced rate and over a number of years. When we tried to set up the payments they said that they had not made the offer and had not recorded the call (they had recorded all other calls). We have a…

No longer qualify for Warm Home Discount Scheme - British Gas
Hi, I'm after some advice regarding the Warm Home Discount Scheme and would appreciate any help if there's any to be had. Thanks. I have a prepayment meter and I qualified for the rebate last year but last week I got a call from British Gas saying I no longer qualify even though my circumstances haven't changed. Their…

fixed price deal possible when may be moving?
Hi, hope someone can give me some advice. My current deal with Npower ends in a few weeks and so am looking at switching supplier. I was considering going on to a fixed rate tariff as it looks like prices will go up again next year. However there is a strong likelihood of moving house within the next 6 months. Would it be…

Quick question on comparisons
Apologies as I'm sure this has already been asked numerous times, but i don't frequent this board very often. I am doing a comparison as my decent tariff with Scottish Power is coming to end. As a very low user, the lowest price is coming out as nPower's Energy Online January 14. Martin is saying not to switch unless you…

Meter Reader Gained Access Without Permission
In our house the meters are located outside behind 10ft gates on the drive way that are locked. The rest out the house is surrounded by 6ft fence (we dont live in a bad area or anything lol) I came outside the other day and noticed the cupboard for the gas meter was open, I closed it and through nothing more of it. Today I…

Radiators heating up when water heating comes on!
Currently I have my water heating to come on each morning and evening for about 1hr, but I have noticed that even though I have not got the central heating set to come on at all, the radiators still heat up. Does anyone know if this should happen?, or is something wrong somewhere as I am fearful that this will be costing…

Warm Home Discount Scheme
There is something odd about the arrangements under the Warm Home Discount Scheme for consumers. During PM questions on 17 October 2012 the PM said that being able to switch energy suppliers is key but this does not seem to be reflected in Government and suppliers’ policy towards the ‘vulnerable’. Previously, energy…

When to switch and why is OVO Energy so cheap?
Hi, I'm currently on nPower's Online 23 tariff which is due to expire on 6/11/2012. They've sent a letter saying they won't change the rate until 26/11 when I'll move to their Go Save S tariff. Looking on comparison sites, OVO Energy is head and shoulders ahead of rest. Based on my current tariff (which was fixed), my…

Warm Home Scheme
My parents have been advised that this year they qualify for £130 on their British Gas electricity account under the warm home scheme. I had never heard of this scheme so I looked it up and saw that it actually came out last winter. I was wondering why they didn't qualify last year as they are well over 70 and their…
