Phantom offer

I got into debt with my energy company because of a mistake on their behalf. They made us an offer to pay off the arrears at a reduced rate and over a number of years. When we tried to set up the payments they said that they had not made the offer and had not recorded the call (they had recorded all other calls). We have a whiteness to the call as it was on loud speaker. should we hold out for that offer.

Why not negotiate a repayment plan both of you can agree to?

    Or get a PPM installed

we did both agree on the repayment plan. It was only when we rang back with bank details that they said it had never been made.

Doesn't sound like they are in agreement then.
You are not going to reach an agreement whilst on MSE. Get back onto the supplier :)

The point I'm trying to make is if they made an offer do they have to stand by it

Do you have proof? A friend saying he was there and it happened won't be proof. Assuming not then try to reach an agreement with them and this time get it in writing.

As we had to hang on the line for quite a while before they answered the phone it was on speaker phone in the office. The company accountant was there and even checked the figures for me. they are prepared to sign an affidavit to that end
