BG Energy Comparison Chart
Has anybody tried to use British Gas energy comparison chart. I live in the North Cheshire area and I've compared my usage, (gas), with most areas in the UK including the far north of Scotland, North Wales, Northern Ireland and Norfolk. It seems that no one uses more gas than I do! We live in a semi- det. 2-bed small…

Uswitch misleading
I'm currently with Atlantic for gas and Elec and the tariff I'm on refunds me one average monthly payment a year, I did a chat online to check whether this cashback was taken into account and I was assured that it was but when I checked the figures the Uswitch website had simply multiplied my payments by 12 then worked out…

Programmable Thermostats
We have a basic thermostat (in our hall) that switches our boiler off and on depending on the temperature it senses. We programme the times when the boiler should come of and on using the boiler (can set time of day and days of week). We have it off at night and on during the day when we are home. We are thinking of…

Delaying price increases while switching
Hi, My understanding is that when gas and electricity companies increase prices they have to tell you in advance and if you decide to switch to avoid the increase and you let them know within certain time limits they they have to keep you on the old price while switching. This is what I did with my old supplier. My current…

British Gas Boiler Installations
Don't know if this is the right place for this post but can anyone tell me if British Gas's offer of 40% off boiler supply and installations is a cost saving or merely 40% off a hugely inflated boiler price and labour costs to start with ? I have asked for a quote but of course they want to come out and provide us with one…

The end of cheap energy tarriffs.
British Gas have announced a simplification in their energy tariffs, down to two, fixed and variable. They are going to end their so called loss leaders. If the other suppliers follow suit this will mean a a slight fall in prices for those too idle or thick to sort out a cheap deal whilst avid moneysavers lose out. A knock…

How to work out gas & electricity bills
Good Morning To work out my gas & electric bill, do I first work out the number of units used in a period and multiply them by a formula, and multiply the answer by the supplier's rate of charge? If so, does each supplier use the same 'formula'? And if so, can someone remind me what that 'formula' is? Thanks in advance

EDF bills? Is it me?
Does anyone else find it very difficult to understand EDF bills? I consider myself quite good at all things MS and carefully check my bills. EDF has me stumped. The bills seem to make no sense. When I rang them to go through it with me the person on the phone had trouble explaining it too. I'm thinking of changing provider…

oil filled radiator - separate timer switch
Hello, I recently purchased a 2.5kw oil filled radiator (delonghi vento) for our living room. I noticed in the instruction booklet you are advised not to use a separate timer with this. I did not understand the reason for this as most plug timers should be able take the load from an appliance of this wattage. Is it just a…
