British Gas - Which is the best tarrif
Options
Hello All
Well I now find myself back on the Standard British Gas tarrif for my gas and electric.
I want to move from this, but to be honest, I dont understand the tarrifs one bit.
We use alot of Electric, as I work as a IT Tech and have servers and machines at home. I dont mind doing online billing / account etc.
So does anyone have an idea which is the best one?
TIA for any help given.

Stop asking BEST (best is now a word that stupid people use) anyways enough of my rant, the most suitable, depends on the individual, BG only offer 2, well 3 plans now, standard, online or price fix, standard is standard, online attracts 4% ish off standard, and fixed costs more.0

As above. BG Online Energy is the cheapest variable tariff. Since BG have effectively abandoned the loss-leader market as of today, you'll almost certainly get a much better deal by switching elsewhere, so get your annual kWh figures together and put them into any comp site to find the best deal.
You don't need to understand the tariffs-you just need to find the cheapest deal.
If you insist on sticking with BG (why would you?) then you just have to chose between Online Energy and Fixed. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
As post 2 but without the totally unnecessary rudeness. And macman is correct, you will be able to find a cheaper tariff elsewhere but the real question is for how long? The others tend to follow where BG lead on stuff and I think this tariff simplification/scrapping of loss leading tariffs will be no different.0
