EDF bills? Is it me?

Does anyone else find it very difficult to understand EDF bills? I consider myself quite good at all things MS and carefully check my bills.

EDF has me stumped. The bills seem to make no sense. When I rang them to go through it with me the person on the phone had trouble explaining it too.

I'm thinking of changing provider just so I can understand what I am being charged. Who has the simplest bill?

I fail to see what is so hard, it says your kwh rate and unit used and you daily standing charge and days billed. multiply them and then add the two together and you will get the right tallying figure minus any discount.

I cannot see what is so hard ?

Sorry I didn't make it clear. It's not working out the usage. My bill always has on a list of cancelled charges. eg

    cancelled charges exVat
    Cancelled VAT charges
    Cancelled Vat refund
    direct debit discount cancelled
    Total cancelled charges

It then goes on to give details of this months bill.

Also the numbers do not seem to add up.

What are all these cancelled charges?

But have they actually charged or credited you for any of those items? Are there amounts against them?
The only one you should have (if paying by DD) is a DD discount.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

On our second bill from EDF, all the previous entries were cancelled and a bill was created from the opening meter read to an arbitrary date, then from that date to the end meter reading.

It is totally nonsensical to have wiped out the first bill and even worse to generate different billing periods as the tariff is fixed.

The bill shows numerous cancelled charges for discounts and VAT.

Total gibberish. No plausible explanation could be given by the Customer Services Rep so they offerred a £20 goodwill payment.:rotfl:

They also generated a changed DD for which they can't offer any explanation.

make sure you scroll down to the bottom of the page as i found there calculation for changing my DD right at the bottom of the down load they had used from dec 10 to dec 11 to work out my expected usage and as we know last year was very cold so they tried to increase my D D by £35 a month so yesterday i changed through the links on this site and saved 3175 A YEAR PLUS 330 cash back so thank you M S E:T

There is nothing on the bill to explain the DD change. On complaint,EDf said they didn't know why it had changed other than it was an automated system. :rotfl:

They also said they didn't have a timescale for when they could tell me.

It's very impressive that they worked out your annual usage based on one day and even better to save £3405 on switching. Probably a world record :D

    Here is the bill downloaded.
Why did they cancel previous charges? Why did they split the consumption?
Why don't they just use the b/f balance and bill consumption from that point onwards?
