Moving into first flat
.. and I just phoned e-on and they estimate our gas + electricity bill as £55 a month? Is this quite high - it's a small 2 bedroom flat. They also wanted me to do a credit check for them to 'check the range of services' they could offer me when I asked how I could pay - is this standard practice?

Npower bill - had an increase?
Npower bill arrived Aug requesting an increase in our monthly payment from £66 a month (dual fuel) to £136 a month. As we are pretty stingy with gas & electricity on the whole, this seemed ridiculously steep so sat down with bill & calculator. The rise was because we weren't paying quite enough & so there were arrears on…

I am a dual fuel customer with British gas and currently on their Websaver 11 online tariff. The account is run online with no paper bills. Switch off or leave on?
We have a number of fluorescent lights in the house and were once told that switching them on and off used more electricity than leaving them on all day because of the energy used to power up the tubes initially. Can anyone tell me if this is true or is it an urban myth? Thanks

Wrong meter reading supplied to meter reading company
I supplied my meter readings to the OVO website yesterday morning. I also read my mum's meters for her and send hers in too. However, a couple of days ago, i got a card through the door from one of those contracted out meter readers (can't remember the name) that come round on behalf of the energy companies, and I think…

I recently switched electricity suppliers away from EON and was asked by the new supplier to provide meter readings. This despite them sending an actual…
