Moving into first flat
.. and I just phoned e-on and they estimate our gas + electricity bill as £55 a month? Is this quite high - it's a small 2 bedroom flat. They also wanted me to do a credit check for them to 'check the range of services' they could offer me when I asked how I could pay - is this standard practice?

yes
and £55 isnt `alot` for both energy - i pay £120 a month for a 3 bedroom house....
and yes , most of the suppliers credit check for a credit meter , if you dont `pass` they`ll offer you a key or pre payment meter (which are more expensive); check all suppliers though as different companies have different criteria for credi meters.0 -
Hi,
oh and remember, just because: 'they estimate our gas + electricity bill as £55' that in a years time you might be back on saying 'why do I owe £500?'.
It's an estimate, take meter readings at the very least once a month, and see what you are using.0
