Switching Energy, still owe money

Will my current provider (EDF) allow me to switch, despite still owing them money? I would like to take advantage of the current tariffs before any new ones kick in.
I have enough money to last me the rest of my life... unless I buy something.

Wether or not you can move depends on the size of the debt - only EDF can tell you as it's their decision
The recent round of Price Increases has ended with EDF being the last to move, and depending on your your type of dwelling and heating, EDF have tariffs that sit near the top of the Switch Site tables.
So even if EDF won't let you go, they may have tariffs that are cheaper than the one you are now on.0
