Wind turbines.. In laymans terms, what is the good, bad and indifferent?
I would like to have a better understanding of this subject such as how it is funded, who pays for it, who it benefits, how it benefits, sustainability etc. Undoubtedly this will have been covered previously in dozens of threads but I wondered if some basics could be condensed into a single thread. Thanks in advance :)

Southern electric say we're paying too much to BG??
I got a knock at the door the other day saying we're on a high rate tarriff with British Gas and we should change suppliers (he took a long to time get to the point though). I never thought our bills were particularly high but out of interest I went on a comparison website and the most we could save by switching was £70…

Max-mins in calcs behind conversion units to kWh
I have been given a user's gas consumption figures in units and kWh, which were provided by his supplier. I would have expected the net multiples of all the conversion elements to be ~11.2. However when I divided each consumption in kWh by the quoted meter based consumption record rather than ~11.2 the range was much…

EDF online saver 7 cancellation fee.
Allright- I have heard talk on here about EDF waiving these fees for some customers (admittedly very few probably) that are actually LEAVING EDF and not changing to another tariff with them. FWIW, i have stayed with them and have jumped to fixed saver 2 and was told they would waive fees so this info is of no benefit to me…

F.A.O Scottish Power Rep
I sent an email on the 22nd to your email address quoted here in your profile. My email prog tells me it was read fairly quickly after I had sent it. However, I have had no acknowledgement that the matter is being investigated. Can you tell me if it is, and when I am likely to receive an answer. Alternatively, I'll use the…

Help! Incorrect bill by Scottish Power?
Firstly I hope I am in the right place, apologies if not, I'm new and slightly flustered due to Scottish Power (SP). In March I swapped from Eon to SP as my fixed deal came to an end. I switched through Money Supermarket for both gas and electric. The electric account is fine but I am having problems with the gas. Eon…

Re: Scottish Poweggrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!
God you would think with the fact that they will be loosing customers left right and centre they may wish to try and retain some of them?...No obviously not! I have just called them as Ovo are cheaper by £80 per annum fixed 1yr. However it also shows SP have a fixed rate until 2013 which is actually £7 cheaper???! At work…

IS it Legal to charge US for the Windfarm Feed In Tariff?
The electricity companies charge us for giving windfarm owners greatly subsidised Feed In Tarriffs for the electricity. I object to this because I hate the misery that onshore turbines cause in small rural communities. There is nothing green about these companies, they would not do it unless we pay them to produce…

wildly different quote comparison sites?!
Hello, I entered the exact same annual KWH usage and postcode into energyhelpline, simply switch and moneysupermarket. They all suggested the same 3 providers in slightly different order but according to energyhelpline the savings we could make are almost twice that than the other two and thats for all 3 quoting for a dual…

£300 bill for gas & electric when on a key meter
I put £15 on a gas prepayment key and £10 on an electric prepayment key for a house I was at last month. I was only at the house for one week end and actually only used the electric and before I left, I still had £8.00 credit left on electric and £15 on gas. Scottish Power were the suppliers. I have since received a bill…

Moving House In Contact
I moved to Scottish Power in February, mainly for the cashback via Quidco, and I think it was on a tariff that tied me into it for a year. I should be moving house in the next couple of months. Am I therefore obliged to take their services at the new address or pay the cancellation charge as part of what would be my final…
