God you would think with the fact that they will be loosing customers left right and centre they may wish to try and retain some of them?...No obviously not!
I have just called them as Ovo are cheaper by £80 per annum fixed 1yr. However it also shows SP have a fixed rate until 2013 which is actually £7 cheaper???!
At work and all SP were interested in were meter readings when I mentioned their other tarrif. I said I'm at work can you tell me as I pay £90pm and have done for the last 3 years if they would recommend their OWN other tarrif (So i'm offering my custom on a plate) to which point the girl says she cant help without a reading. I then see they are offering new customers £40 cash back also but nothing for existing...
Scottish Power...can't even retain current business...how are they expected to ensure new??!

It makes sense that they would need an actual meter reading to set the tariff up, as if they just estimated it then they would be guaranteed hundreds of callbacks from people complaining that the estimate was wrong and they were trying to over charge them. The only way to stop that is to insist on a meter reading when they set it up.
If you just take a read when you get home and then call them back then I'd immagine they'll set it up then.I am an employee of British Gas, however the views expressed on this post are mine and do not necessarily reflect the views of Centrica, its subsidiaries or affiliated companies.0 -
Just confirmed the 1yr fixed tariff with NP.Should I email SP to confirm cancellation to avoid any charges or just let the normal transfer take place? Also I only switched to SP in March 2011.Does this mean I will lose my £30 that Money Super Market originally told me I would be paid when I moved from NP to SP.Normally they give a period of three months before paying this switcing fee.0

From what I understand, you have to inform them otherwise they'll charge the leaving fee.
I'd also say you should really have started a new thread for this (or at least resurrected one of the ones about Scottish Powers cancellation fee) rather than commenting on here...I am an employee of British Gas, however the views expressed on this post are mine and do not necessarily reflect the views of Centrica, its subsidiaries or affiliated companies.0 -
I have no idea. I have now called home for a meter reading and suprise, it shows same £85pm. Call 0800 400 200 to spk to someone, its a freephone number and quicker.
