How do I know what I spend on gas on a freezing day?
As it was very cold yesterday and I had a guest staying, I knew I would have to keep the gas central heating on all day so I took meter readings at the beginning and end of the day to see see how much I was spending. At the end of the day I called my energy supplier, EDF, to find out how much the 4 cubic feet I had used…

Please help! Switched & charged twice!!!
Hi all. I recently used the comparison tool on here and switched supplier from nPower to E-On. Apparently i was going to be saved over £400 a year. For starters my first direct debit from E-ON is more than my nPower payments. Don't quite understand that. I gave a reading so it is not an estimate. But more alarmingly nPower…

Energy scammers
I had a phone call from an Indian sounding chap that said he was calling from a company called EnergySavers. And because I was Scottish (I am not Scotish nor live in Scotland) I asked where he was calling from and he said in South London, I hung up. Anyone who lives in the UK would know where Scotland is and would also…

Payments by Direct Debit
Is there a maximum percentage by which a power company can increase a direct debit? We had been paying a monthly amount based on the company's estimated useage since we moved in 4 years ago. I can't remember the last time that we gave them a meter reading but they have just been asking for another one, but before I've had…

letter from npower offering me money from 2007
I've had a letter from npower offering me an amount of money which they say is a one-off payment relating to charges to my account when I was with them in 2007. I have looked on their website and can see nothing about it. I am reluctant to put in details as they say. Has anyone else had this letter? Is it a scam?

Energy Prophet 2010
How about a little competition? NPower and E.On are yet to increase prices, so it's only a matter of time they do. No Prizes, just the un-coveted title of Energy Prophet of 2010. In future, all remarks directed to said Prophet should start with "To Honourable Prophet (Name)", "Dear Prophet (Name)", "Your Far Sightedness"…

E.ON Track & Save 7 need urgent help
Bit of history: we have been on Staywarm for a long time, but due to changes in their t&c we no longer qualify for it. Therefore from 17th November they switched us over onto Track & Save 7. At the same time I checked the comparison sites and found that we would be better off with EDF's Online S@ver v7 tariff, so applied…

Scottish Power monthly charge - can anybody explain it?
Hi everyone, I've searched the forum but can't find much. We're on the Scottish Power Online Standard tariff, and we get a monthly charge of £110.
