Energy Prophet 2010
How about a little competition?
NPower and E.On are yet to increase prices, so it's only a matter of time they do.
No Prizes, just the un-coveted title of Energy Prophet of 2010.
In future, all remarks directed to said Prophet should start with
"To Honourable Prophet (Name)", "Dear Prophet (Name)", "Your Far Sightedness" etc.
Basically, each contestant records their predictions for
1. date of increase
2. percentage of increase
for E.On and NPower.
You start from 100 points, and we deduct points from it.
The contestant who gets highest score wins.
The date range is 1st December 2010 to 31st March 2011. You can say no change. For every day you are wrong by, you lose a point. So, if you say 7th January, but E.On raises rates on the 15th of January, you lose 15 - 7 = 8 points.
The percentage range can be negative for decrease, 0% for no increase, and sky's the limit for increase. You lose the difference in percentage, up to 1 decimal point. If you predict an increase of 5.6%, but E.On increases by 7.3%, you lose 7.3 - 5.6 = 1.7 points.
So if you get everything spot on, you can a perfect score of 100.
We go by information published in MSE News.
For a tie breaker, you can recommend a tariff to switch to. It must be a tariff you can switch to on the 1st December.
You must record the relevant details for the tariff, like rates, end date, Welcome bonus, etc. in the entry post. We calculate the amount payable by a user who uses 10kWh electric/100kWh gas a day, from 1st December to 1st April 2011. Obviously the lowest payable amount wins.
Entry valid from 1st December to Friday 10th December.
NO EDITING allowed. Edit disqualifies an entry.
If no one gets more than 60 points, there is NO winner.
The result an be calculated as soon as both NPower and E.On have increased their tariffs. Subsequent increase do not count. Latest will be 1st April, if no increase happened.
If you have suggestions for changing the rules, post on this thread. Then we can start a separate thread for the entries.
