Dear Forum ,
I've just received the Royal Mail EDF paperwork on 02/12/10 following a successful application via Quidco on 23/12/10 and I wonder if anyone could clarify the implication of the online confirmation :
Important Information : + EDF Energy's £100 Welcome Bonus offer is subject to the customer signing up to the Online Saver Version 7 Tariff via wXX.savetodaysavetomorrow.com by 30 November 2010 and the customer's account(s) going live on supply . The customer's account will be automatically credited with a Welcome Bonus of £75 for Electricity and £25 for Gas, within 90 days of the account being live on supply........
Versus the included flyer via Royal Mail which refers to a Welcome Bonus offer (December 2010) as being on Electricity only for £50 . There's no ambiguity here is there ? I'm already reconciled to the fact that Quidco cookies have appeared not to work for me , but they're surely not clipping the £100 Welcome Bonus too !
Best Wishes

If Quidco didn't work, raise a query or whatever it's called on their website. I have and they are looking into it.
  • Amazing, isn't it? I joined EDF a few weeks ago via Topcashback and within 24 hours £85.60 tracked (I qualifed for 7% extra in November due to having a good month in October.) Got my father in law to go for this (I do all his utility stuff online as he's not net savvy), did it through Quidco (he's never had a TCB account, my fault really :o) on 29/11/10 and absolutely zilch  I am now reminded why I stopped using Quidco. Needless to say, I have now enrolled him in TCB. Is this Quidco non-tracking for this EDF deal a widespread thing??

I also spotted this information after signing up via moneysupermarket for the £30 cashback in a hurry before the offer closed (altho it's now extended) and was worried that cos i din't go via their link that the £100 bonus would not apply!

The info on the MSE email says you can do it this way. Anyone know for sure if it works?

I too have switched to EDF Energy on exactly the same day as the original poster.
    Have quidco confirmation too.
What puzzles me a little though, is that EDF wants to set up direct debits for £13 Elec and £6 Gas only!!!
We have been with Scottish Power had have paid £45 for dual fuel per month. Admittedly, we are £160 in Credit, but with a cold Winter to come, I thought that was actually a good thing.
Question is, is it EDF's tactic to offer people very small direct debits and then hit them with extra payments when the actual bill arrives? Although I like to save, but I think I will ask them to up the direct debits by a bit.

The silly DD amounts are a known problem. Not EDF being sneaky, just a computer error. You can change them by calling them or leave it as you like.

I don't understand what chegs question is about. Probably me, but what is the problem being seen?

Sorry, probably didn't explain myself.... i signed up via money supermarket for £30 cashback, but then noticed the information says the £100 bonus is if you sign up via wXX.savetodaysavetomorrow.com.

I wasn't sure if that meant i wouldn't get the bonus as i didn't sign up via that link?

I'm not very offay with these sort of things and didn't know if it would be a problem or not!

Oh right. The £100 bonus is safe however you sign up. It's part of the contract so you will get that.

    Dear T0rt0ise ,
Thank you for your suggestion about Quidco , I've just logged back in taking care to allow permanently all the intermediate websites for cookies (normally my setting is to clear all such on exiting the browser session) and I have been able to submit a Quidco Query which is linked to a particular site visit to EDF via Quidco and enter the EDF contract number thereby generated on the Royal Mail contract received . They say that they will take up with EDF after 30 days has expired if the Transaction remains untracked . Fingers crossed !

Would knowing that you could have got £80 cashback via Quidco make you more stressed then? :D
With regard to the non-tracking issue, 9 times out of 10 this is due to people not clearing their cookies before they log into Quidco and click through. The best way to avoid this is to use a separate browser only for your cashback transactions-I do all my via Chrome and have never had a purchase not track in 2 years.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
