I think the no. you need from EDF is what is on the first letter you receive after signing up and is called a 'contract number'. This is not the same as the account no, which comes later, nearer the date of the actual switch.
An EDF account is (or at least was a year ago when I last had it) a 13 digit number.

You're just being too impatient. The number you need will be on the letter when you receive it. As you have several weeks to make a claim with Quidco and they won't start processing it for at least 4 or 5 anyway, there is no rush.

Its not really about being impatient for me, I may want to cancel with EDF before my 12 day cooling off period !! so need to know it sooner , and not a few weeks later.

I still dont have a letter from EDF and 10 days have gone !!

If others here are in the same boat as me, then i hope my posts help them out also

This should have tracked with Quidco, but did not , for whatever reason i dont know, but this is the first time in using Quidco for a few years that something has not tracked automatically.

But if your sign up went through online then you would have received an almost instant email reply from EDF.
You don't expect to get the cashback if you cancel do you?

If you go back a page macman you will understand my position more

Yes i got an instant email , but there is no numbers on it , are you saying you got numbers on your email , many others didnt !!! ,

..and no i donot expect to get to CB if i cancel , I know how CB works , have been using it for many years, with great results , until now of course,

    Note to others ,

EDF have changed to a new customer service system , they have changed the way they give out customer ref numbers , I was told this directly by EDF

No, the contract number is on the welcome letter, not the response email. My welcome letter took 7-10 days to arrive after sign up.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Signed up via Quidco on Monday and was tracked by Quidco in about 3 hours !I received a confirmation email from EDF almost immediately saying I would receive confirmation by post .

No account number given on the email confirmation

    Hope it helps
  • Like Jack Spratt says, the welcome email contains NO numbers whatsoever.

You then get a welcome letter in the post that contains a 12 Digit "Contract Account Number" but not an 8 digit number that Quidco appear to be asking for.

Quidco need to be made aware that an 8 digit number is not supplied either in the welcome email or the welcome letter.

    BargainMad ,

So macman post above about receiving this " 8 digit contract number" in the letter is not entirely correct ?

Anyone who signed up last week will see that there is NO 8 digit contract number in the welcome letter as anyone who has received it will verify.

And there is NO 8 digit contract number in the welcome email....as anyone who has received it will verify.

There is a 12 digit "contract ACCOUNT number" on the welcome letter but, crucially, this is not the 8 digit number quidco are asking for.

So anybody would be right to be concerned about being asked to supply something that isn't there.

I have great faith in Quidco sorting this out and just think that their request is being based on outdated information from when the welcome emails did contain an 8 digit reference. It would appear that EDF have changed their welcome email recently and it does not contain this number anymore.

I have great faith that Quidco will get us our cashback in the end but they do need to be made aware that they are asking for something that is no longer given.
