Help i'm confused!!
Hi could someone please advise me which is my best option.
I have just found myself to now be a single mum of two small children. I had Tonsil Cancer with lymph node involvement last year that required aggressive chemo and radiotherapy which finished Feb this year. I now feel the cold even more so due to this. I was working but now due to health reasons I am unable to return to work. I have to live on benefits at the moment and I just have to hope I can get well enough in the future to get back into work, was a Midwife and then went into teaching both now not an option for the future due to the radiation damage on my voice.
Now I am with southern electric on their standard tariff but due to the above applied to their social tariff, I came in at 8% and you need to be 10% to have bills reduced. But because of the above history I am applicable for their rebate scheme which is £50 off Gas and £50 off electric which will be applied to my account in April.
This means I will be on high usage during winter and as we all know its cold!!! lots of snow here in Cornwall!!
Now do I stay with them and ask to move to their best online tariff and will I keep the rebate entitlement. Or do I move to EDF online saver 7 and get their £100 new welcome gift. Or move to Eon on their online 4 which comes up as best saver but no £100 welcome gift!!
Any help would be welcomed!!
Thanks

Wellcome to the forums foxyladyx. Can you not just work out what each option will cost with the various rebates and discounts, and base your decision on that?. If EDF Onlne Saver 7 is less than £100 more than any of the others, then it will be your cheapest option once the £100 discount is taken into account. And you can get an additional £80 cashback if you sign up for it via Quidco-but you'll have to be quick, as it could be pulled at any moment. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi Macman
Thanks for your reply. I phoned Southern Electric and can't change tariff so would have to stay on standard which is very expensive hense money off.
So with the tip from another user using Top cash back site, I took your advice and went with what the comparison sites where recommending and have switched from them to EDF on line saver 7 saving. I get £80.80 for switch with Top Cash Site and £100 as welcome gift from EDF and save over £375 swapping from Southern Electric.!!!
Kids will be pleased more pressies!!! Thanks for helping me make the decision I was a bit worried that I was making a mistake and not reading figures right and not doing anything about it!! Now just need to sort BT out !!
Thanks x:T0 -
Good result! Yes, you can certainly get a better phone and broadband deal than BT's offerings. Start with an exchange search on https://www.samknows.com and post your LLU options if you need further advice. LLU deals will be the cheapest on your exchange. No free lunch, and no free laptop
