I've had a letter from npower offering me an amount of money which they say is a one-off payment relating to charges to my account when I was with them in 2007. I have looked on their website and can see nothing about it. I am reluctant to put in details as they say. Has anyone else had this letter? Is it a scam?

Last month, NPower refunded £63 million to nearly two million customers that it had overcharged. The firm admitted changing its billing mechanism in 2007, leaving many smaller gas customers paying for more fuel than they used to. When this first came to light, it had probably never occurred to customers to check their bills for errors. New rules from energy regulator Ofgem will make electricity and gas bills clearer, but Consumer Focus, the energy watchdog, says the situation is actually getting worse and additional new rules are not helping.Ex forum ambassador

My letter had a postal order type thing attached - nothing to enter anywhere. I had to take the letter to the post office with two types of ID, the post office looked at this and returned it plus my refund in cash (and a receipt) but kept the letter,
I didn't put in any details anywhere at any time.0
