British Gas Homecare - 12 month lock in?
Just a quickie - does anyone know if British Gas' Home care locks you into a 12 month contract after the initial 12 months? I've just seen our renewal figure and it's a few pounds a month more than the prices for new customers. I was just about to give them a call and try and argue it down, but I'll be onto a looser if I'm…

Gas bill not covered by D/D - query about useage?
Just had the gas bill in. We pay by D/D every month and apparently we owe them £158. We have the option of paying this now as a lump sum or increasing the D/D from £48 to ?? (not stated yet). Between our gas and electricity we pay a smidgeon over £200 per month so we need to address our useage which we are in the process…

British Gas / EDF Error.....that i'm paying for
I would really appreciate some help on what to do with my situation: I received a letter on the 6th March from LCS Debt Collectors advising that I owed British Gas £398 for electric used at my previous property. As far as I was concerned this letter was wrong as I changed supplier to EDF Energy when I moved in due to the…

Eon fixed version 6
Question for Eon Rep please. I have just been told by Eon that if I changed to Fix Online 6 and then wanted to leave say in 6 months time, I would not have to pay a cancellation fee if I changed to another product with Eon. I would only pay if I left Eon altogether. Please confirm this is correct. Thanks

Moving into a new home
Looking for some advice on where to start. Am shortly going to be moving into my first owned home. Poor advice from energy switching websites?
I'm a little worried and confused about the information given by the energy switching websites. It seems from my research that whatever monthly price or consumption reading you give they always claim that another provider can undercut the price, always by about c£100. Also, it seems odd that if you tell them that you are…

How much electricity cost to run a PC?
In the last couple of days, I've started using a PC in my home and I've realised according to the cost calculator we have in our home that it is costing around 7p per hour. Now that is a great deal. If it's on 6-8 hours per day, that's an average of 50p per day, £15 per month. Surely this cannot be right just for a PC? I'm…

Cheaper to use gas or electric?
My gas CH is not heating the water for some reason! Will get an engineer out to have a look when finances allow! My question is if I use the electric immersion to heat the tank for an hour, will it be more expensive than the using the gas CH to heat it for an hour?
