British Gas Relaunch Essentials Tariff
BG have now relaunched the above tariff and it's prices are 15% cheaper than their standard one. It seems ok however, I presume you get no discounts for paying by DD etc so does it really work out any cheaper in the long run? Looking at Npower their sign online 15 prices aren't massively different from the essentials one…

A friend has asked me to check thier Scot.Power bills for 2008 as they could not make Head nor Tail of them, and having seen the bills I can understand why. For reasons not explained, Scot Power issued bills for the 3rd. & 4th Quarters which both went back to the Start Date & Start Meter Reading of the 2nd Qtr bill. In…

If I join BG Homecare how soon can I make a claim?
Hi, We moved into a new house just over 2 years ago. Woke up this morning to no hot water and boiler on the blink. As we are now over our initial 2 year warranty we are not covered in case of a break down. We had no reason to use this cover in first two years and to be honest we thought that a new house/new boiler wouldn't…

EDF make me want to top myself
Why are these companies so stupid. I have just received my latest bill from them for electric - £1700! According to them I use on average 90.72units per day. Do they think I am powering the national grid? There is no reasoning with them. They make it up as they go along:- "The readings are correct" "The readings are…

Cost of replacing gas bolier with BG
I have just had an "energy efficiency" meeting with a member of BG staff following an annual service of my 24 year old Gloworm boiler, which the engineer considered as being in excellent condition. During the chat, the BG man obviously mentioned that my boiler. whilst being in good condition, could "go" at any time and…

Is Gas Pay-As-You-Go Scheme Good For Pensioners?
My mum is contemplating switching to the British Gas Pay-As-You-Go scheme. What she wants to know is this: With her being a pensioner, would it be worthwhile? She has previously been on the monthly plan, but this has now gone up to £70.00 per month, which she would not be able to afford.
