If I join BG Homecare how soon can I make a claim?

Hi, We moved into a new house just over 2 years ago. Woke up this morning to no hot water and boiler on the blink. As we are now over our initial 2 year warranty we are not covered in case of a break down. We had no reason to use this cover in first two years and to be honest we thought that a new house/new boiler wouldn't give us any problems for a wee while yet.
Can I take out Homecare agreement and make a claim straight away or will I need to wait a length or time ? Or should I pay £168 for fixed rate callout or try someone local?
Any advise is appreciated.

Normally BG will inspect the CH system before accepting you for Homecare.
  • We will not be able to take your boiler under cover unless you want to pay a higher premium for hc200 which can be anything between £28 - £35 depending on where you stay and if you have gas and elec with BG. and if you do not tell the agent you have a problem the eng will attend and fail the inspection.

Is the customer supposed to ask BG to send their inspector out? Or do BG get in touch with an appointment date, soon after the customer signs up?

I work for them and is subject to first inspection, this is normally booked when you call to set up. You need to clarify that your boiler is in full working order. otherwise you can go for the repair and care option wich involved a fixed fee of£99 with a monthly price of £20-22 (depends on where you stay) for the homecare 200 for 12 months. Other T&C apply
