Cavity wall insulation can go wrong, so who can you turn to then?
One of the possible draw backs of installing cavity wall insulation is the transfer of damp from outside to inside walls, due to mortar dollops on tie bars or elsewhere when the property was built. In the event of this happening the chances are the damage to your property is going to cost a small fortune to put right. So…

The new Gov help?
Hi can somebody please explain to me how the cap on fuel prices for poor families will work? I am with sottish power and stuck as far as I can see as they very kindly let me get in arrears on the account by setting the dd far too low, they also dont have a social taffif. We are on IS and carers allowance. Thank you.

EDF Nightmare
I have had nothing but trouble with thse guys since I changed suppliers, and if it wasn't for them putting us in arrears by undercharing us for 8 months I would have swapped ages ago. Basically,we were swapped over to EDF after a guy doorstepped my husband and got him to sign a form-whilst he stated categorically he was not…

Use less -pay more !
Apologies if this has been raised before - but haven't seen it. I just got my price rise note from eon. What caught my eye was that the initial "high rate" units have risen far more than the lower rate units. Electricity 38% and 4.2%; Gas 43% and 22%. I dug out my last bill and applied the new prices to it - a 22% increase…

Energy prices to increase
If all these Government energy saving measures reduce our energy use by say 20%, won't this mean the energy companies receive 20% less in revenue and will therefore just increase prices by at least 20% to compensate? We will be paying the same amount in bills but using less energy. I guess the profits will go to the energy…

New Gas Supplier Needed
Hello there! We received a bill from Scottish Gas yesterday telling us our monthly payment was going up. Our payments are going up from £24 p/m to £45 p/m which we feel is scandalous. It prompted my father to phone SG to ask why the charges were so much and they said prices were going up by 35%. My dad reminded them that…

Should I switch supplier/tariff now?
Hi, About 3 months ago I switched onto Scottish Powers Online Fixed 2009 tariff with prices fixed until August 2009. As we have economy storage heaters we are currently paying £136 pm for both G&E on monthly budget plan. However, we have now decided to change to GCH. So whereas before the only Gas usage was hot water…

Which is better? Leaving the heating on low or on while I'm in?
Hi there everyone, I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on which is better... leaving the heating on low or turning it on for a few hours everyday? Basically I live in a semi detached house and I was discussing with a colleague about heating. And he said that basically once it gets cold (say end of September) he…
