New Gas Meter - More Usage!?
Hi All I've been really anal with cutting down on how much gas I'm using. I had a new grade A efficiency boiler installed last Jan, have taken the heating off timer so its only on for 2hrs a day instead of 7hrs and really been putting the effort in to cut back. I checked my usage (rather than cost) and I've used more units…

Economical Heaters - Electricity only
Hi, I need some advice. I live on an electricity only estate and have Economy 7 heating with storage heaters. We never seem to get the heat when we want it so we've decided to get rid of the storage heaters and get panel heaters as they are cheap to run, but the one we've bought doesn't even heat the living room up. What…

Help with BG complaint
Hi, I will try to cut a long story short. We were British gas customers and swopped using USwitch last April to NPower. Since then we have been billed by both companies despite the National grid/Transco confirming several times without a doubt that only NPower are entitled to bill us. The customer service helpline at…

Ebico for electricity
At last I have done it! My last electricity bill from EDF Energy (formerly SWEB) was so high I just had to do something. They are charging me 14.95p for the first 225 units per quarter and 10.16p thereafter. Their cheaper band is still more expensive than Ebico's across the board price at 10.05p. Do transfers for…

To keep plugged in or not
I know this sounds like a daft question ,but my local bank (HSBC) are running a campaign to get people to unplug electrical items whilst not in use. And I mean UNPLUG, not just switch them off at the wall.Is there any benefit in this, or is it just as money-saving to switch off at the plug .I know this probably sounds…

Being form Canada, I can honestly say I no longer know what's cheaper . Gas or Electricity ? When I first bought my home 11 years ago, Gas was definitely the better alternative . With the price of todays oil markets being the way they are, I honestly don't know if I still feel that way . Any takers on this one ?

Chasing a bill dispute with British Gas
In October 2006 we had an old boiler system removed and a new one installed by British Gas. As part of the contract it was agreed that British Gas would come and do an inspection of work prior to payment and would make good any damage sustained. Although the work was done and we have a lovely new heating and water boiler…

Standing Charge Costs for Gas
Hi, I am interested to find out if anyone else has the same problem as we do for our gas standing charge. We moved into our house 10 years ago and instead of the gas pipeline being through Transco it goes via a independent pipeline company. We were automatically with a company called Agas when we moved in and then they…
