Does anyone have any examples of npower doing anything well?
Yesterday I sent them this email - short but sweet
Please can you refund the credit on my account
(approximatly £140). The last reading on January 13, 2007 is 17520.
and *sigh* this is the response I got.
After checking the details on your account, I can confirm that the credit on
your account is based on an estimated meter reading. If you are able to send
us a meter reading, we will be able to up date your account and issue out a
correct statement.

glad to know it's not just me that had problems with them!
Have you tried ringing them? Sometimes a real person gets you further than a computer.Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
I don't think it's uncommon when you ask for a refund for a supplier to ask for a meter reading to bring the account is up to date. That is, I've always had to give a meter reading before a refund could be agreed.0

Oh no!The last time I had to call them was for the same thing last year, my account had accrued too much credit, I got them to refund the credit. Then I tried to get them to reduce the payments. I had two readings exactly 12 months apart to use for my annual useage. The girl on the end of the phone wouldn't accept them as the price had gone up in the short time since I took them. No amount of explaining could get her to understand that just because the price had gone up that would not affect the volume I had used in the past year, it would just mean it would cost me a bit more. And could she please calculate my monthly payment based on what I had actually used and the new rates.
No she couldn't. And it made no difference anyway. When they eventually reduce the payments it only took them 2 months to put them up again :mad:masonic wrote:I don't think it's uncommon when you ask for a refund for a supplier to ask for a meter reading to bring the account is up to date.
That was my experiance from previous dealings with them, which is why it was the second line of my 2 line email. apparently they don't read past the 1st line :rotfl:0 -

It was the same as the day of their estimated one, so I thought that would be the best one to submit, they didn't specify it had to be in the last x days0

We've always phoned up and gave them an accurate reading when we get our bill and just ask them for a refund at the same time. It's pretty much standard with any energy company, especially if you are asking for a refund during the winter months. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0

Well yes you will get this reply. How can a company send a refund based on an estimate. If they sent the refund on an estimate, then on a later date they had a reading and your account was updated then you may find there is more credit owed on your account. So whats the point in having to waste time having to get 2 refunds. Its quicker for you and for the company npower. If you give a reading, you know that you are getting everything owed to you and not just an estimated amount
Another example would be if at a later date they received a reading and updated your account and in fact you wasnt owed as much credit/money as you originally thought. If npower had smply sent the refund on an estimate then they would be giving you money which your not entitled to and you would have to pay it back so whats the point in that!
If you ran a business would you give a customer a refund with out seeing the recepit 1st. Would you give a refund to this customer if they walked in to your shop and wanted a refund for an estimated amount of t shirts which they bought!!!!!!!!!!! No you would not. You would wants to see the recepit 1st to confirm how many they had bought.
This is the same thing. A reading is needed to confirm how much electric you have used!!!!
You customer always have a go at these companies but in fact... you do not have a clue what you are talking about
I undertand you gave a reading in your email but perhaps a new bill had been issued since this reading so a further reading was needed.ScoobieGirl wrote: »Does anyone have any examples of npower doing anything well?

Its not npowers faults that some of thier customers are idiots is it?1carminestocky wrote: »Wooaahhh....not suggesting anything untoward, of course, but how did you 'happen' upon this really old thread for your first contribution on MSE?
