Hi, I am about to change Electric from Britsish Gas to another company. I should save 19% if the figures are right. Do I submit my reading to the new company and it`s as simple as that? Just a thought, If I have used 4000 units since my last reading and say my reading was 38,000 when I phone my new supplier, if he misheard…

New Homeowner needs electricity supplier

Avoid overcharging-check your meter
19 months ago Transco changed my gas meter to a new metric one. No problems. But when I saw my last gas bill I thought the charges looked a bit steep. So I checked the calculations. Sainsbury's still thought I had an imperial meter and were multiplying up my usage (by 2.83 times!) to correct for metric. I dug deeper and…

Energy Cashback site
I just went to the Energy Cashback site to get a quote for dual fuel, and after giving all the requested details, the best quote was npower online. However, when I clicked at the top of the page where it states the tariff I am now paying with TP+, the figures were all wrong. The gas rates had a standing charge shown and TP+…

Gas cost to the Utilities
Just received a price increase notification from Scottish Power to-day Saturday 26th March - the increase takes effect on 1st April. Joke or not? Liked the amount of notice as well. There were increases on the following dates 9th August 04, 10 Jan 05 and now 1st April. Looked at the percentage increase since I joined them…

Staywarm-subsidiary of Powergen.
I have just been informed by Staywarm that my new direct debit for the provision of electricity this year has increased by 16.05%, from £57.30 per month to £66.50. I think Staywarm are not the cheap providers they used to be for the over 60's, and it may well be worth looking elsewhere.

I was a little bemused this morning to receive a letter form Powergen (Age Concern) informing me that the transfer of my gas to them was going ahead smoothly and that I'd be contacted again in around 2-4 weeks. About 1 year ago (March 2004) I had switched over from Powergen's standard tarif to the Powergen Age Concern…

What temp do you set your heating at.
I just wondered what the average temp people set their heating at. Ours goes up and down like a yo yo, when we go to bed we set it for 20 degrees, but in the day its on at about 22 - 24 and at night I would quite often add the fire to that.
