How long have others waited for DVLA driving licence
I'm interested to know whats the record (longest time) someone has waited from a decision from the DVLA and if there is anything you can do to speed it up. My son applied for his driving licence 13 months ago (still no decision). I have just spoke to them today and it was just like dealing with the Vogon Bureaucracy from…

1 point short of PIP award advice please
I wondered whether anybody has been in the same position, I received a thank you but no letter with a breakdown of my points, where I was 1 point short on daily living and 4 points on mobility. I have already asked for a reconsideration and the lady I spoke to in fairness was very sympathetic and considerate on the phone.…

VAT Free? Buying recliner chair
My mother is buying a recliner/riser chair, I have read that you can buy vat free if disabled. She has a blue badge for parking, receives a carer allowance, is 92 years old, weak heart and can't walk too far, but, she is not disabled - do you think she can buy Vat free? I don't know what to write on the form because I…

Blue badge after refused High rate mobility?
Hello First of all, I would like to say I am appealing against PIP, as according to them I can walk fine unaided. I can walk, with nearly 200mg morphine for pain… I really should be in a wheel chair, but I find them too limited when shopping, So i use a shopping trolly for support (used as a frame). I am autistic, and I…

Pip
Hi I'm new to the site although I do read quite a lot from the site. I have been receiving the lower rate for DLA and I recently went for one of those interviews with an ATOS rep. My conditions have deteriorated severely since my last claim and I struggle a lot. I have osteoarthritis in both knees and currently await a…

Financial assessment following care home entry/DRE
Mother in law has just had to go to a Dementia care home, and following minimal help from our local authority (over 4 months) they agreed a basic contribution of c£450 per week. MIL has funds around £20k savings. We have had to agree to a top up of £100 per week. Family/friends cannot permanently afford to expend the top…

Travelling by train
I attended a discussion session on accessibility and rail travel today, got invited when I renewed my disabled railcard. It was quite useful being able to share experiences (not all of them good!), but also finding out some things we did not know about. None of us had heard of 'Stations Made Easy', lets you 'explore'…

Advice Needed about PIP, ESA or other
I'm seeking any advice on behalf of my mum. She has recently been turned down for PIP. Her condition (which she has provided medical evidence of) is degenerative spondylolisthesis. In the last year I have witnessed her turn from an able bodied person into someone who is unable to perform simple tasks or even walk the…

Disability related expenditure guidelines and council charges
My father has had a financial assessment carried out as he is going into respite care soon to allow me to take a break. He lives with me and I am his full timer carer as I left work to look after him. To justify the councils maximum capped charge, as he only has minimal savings, they have calculated his board and lodgings…

PIP tribunal adjourned - help?
My pip tribunal was adjourned about two months ago due to them not reaching a decision about whether to award me or not. They wanted access to my medical records which I granted but I'm still waiting on a decision. Anyone else's tribunal been adjourned? How long before a decision was finally reached for you? I've been…

Not recieved a award letter, but told I passed on phone what now?
8 or 9 weeks ago I had my assessment, when I didn't hear I rang about 3 weeks ago to be told I passed and was given ESA WRAG. But still no letter confirming this so I am worried they will suddenly go back on their word. It was paid a few days ago like normal so it should be ok but just worried in case.

PIP: "Decision taking longer than normal"
I'm being reassessed for PIP. I recently received a letter saying that the decision was taking longer than normal. I'm terrified. I only claim PIP on the basis of neurological and mental illness so I'm not sure whether I count under the new rules at all. My PIP props up my household. I couldn't afford to lose it. The DWP…

Beware Pro-rider
Just in case any of you folks are thinking of ordering from Pro-rider in Nottingham (especially on-line), I would like to share my experience with you. On Friday 29th July, I attempted to place an order on line. All went fine until after I had put in all my card details, whereby a warning came up asking if I wanted to…

ESA Help (re: Permitted Work)
Hi, I am currently petrified. Here's why... I didn't know I had to declare voluntary work. I started volunteering last July. I had ESA covered for a year (from June last year to June this year). Prior to that I had been sending sick notes every month from about March (so about three months). But then they signed me off for…
