Motability - Reasonable time to repair car

My windcreen of my motability car Mazda 6 was damaged on 13th July I've notified autoglass and i'm still waiting to hear about whether or not it will be repaired. Ive called them numerous times and still have no idea if it will be fixed soon or in the near future. It has a smashed windscreen. In the mean time they (Motability) have provided me with a Mokka which is causing me pain and discomfort while driving. The main reason for this post is to find out if their is a reasonable time to give them to repair a windscreen. Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance

I'm not sure why there's a question about whether it will be repaired: a straightforward replacement would normally be done within a couple of days. Is there damage to the windscreen surround?

A stone hit the top of the windscreen just above the driver side. It cracked down the glass in view from drivers seat. Autoglass say they cant get the glass. So I have no idea whats going on. Do they have a reasonable time by law to repair the car and or could i change it to a different model if I don't hear anything within a set time?

It might be worth posting on the motoring part of this forum, to find out if there's a reason for it taking so long. Is there something 'special' about the windscreen, for instance is it heated, or with sensors?

There's no excuse for them not telling you how long it will take though.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Have you contacted Motability to explain that the Mokka isn't suitable and that you still don't have a date for repair? They are paying for your hire car when your lease car is sitting unused outside your house, and will be keen to have the repair done quickly.

I had a few problems that the dealership were not sorting out, but once I contacted Motability, things moved very quickly.

Yes I have and they were understanding. But when they passed me onto RSA they weren't as helpful unfortunately. They have put a request in for a different hire car but for now i'm still using the mokka. When I originally joined the scheme the main purpose was for peace of mind, and not having to worry about how to get to hospital on a regular basis and in emergency situations. I am still mobile thanks to the mokka but a lot of my already planned trips etc have had to be cancelled or used other transport due to distance and things needed for the trips. I still have no clue when the glass is supposed to be arriving but was told when i originally hired the car that glass is normally fixed within 3 days and tyres same day.

Say if you're in or near Bristol, there's a windscreen company I could recommend you talk to. If you're not, I'd be inclined to see if there are other windscreen companies around and see what they say. If there's a widespread issue getting the glass for that make / model, go back to Motability and talk about changing car. If another company says they could get it within 24-48 hours, go back to Motability and say you need to go with a different windscreen replacement company.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look around tomorrow and see if there's any companies around here that deal with windscreens and continue from there. hopefully I can get some joy that way.

Unfortunately Autoglass are useless. I had a similar issue waiting around for the best part of a week because they ordered the wrong model glass in even though when booking I confirmed the model. (I drive a WAV, they ordered the glass for the standard van which had an aerial hole my WAV doesn't have). They turned up to fit it and walked away two mins later muttering about the idiots in the call centre and now we have to pay extra for the windscreen replacement when it used to be included in our monthly payment.
