Blue badge after refused High rate mobility?

Options
Hello

First of all, I would like to say I am appealing against PIP, as according to them I can walk fine unaided.

I can walk, with nearly 200mg morphine for pain… I really should be in a wheel chair, but I find them too limited when shopping, So i use a shopping trolly for support (used as a frame).

I am autistic, and I know of other people, who are autistic who get the blue badge, but walk and run fine. (oh how I envy them).

What are the requirements for a blue badge?

You don't need to receive High Rate Mobility to get a Blue Badge - you can be assessed individually by the council.

Is it a different process than to get a normal blue badge, the guy refused to give me it last week. Claiming I only had 2 weeks left and there was no point. He was extremely rude.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean.

It's possible to get a Blue Badge without claiming any benefits at all.

I'm afraid I don't know where that is.

My husband wasn't claiming benefits so we went through the council but it appears you can now apply on line and your application is then sent on to the council for you.

  • Type 1: 'Eligible without further assessment'
Type 2: 'Eligible subject to further assessment'

Subject to further assessment will be assessed by an 'independent mobility assessor' such as OT / Physio etc. Apply to your Local Authority Blue Badge system and go through the process.
