our council has such a poor service for assessing blue badge applications outwith the pip/dla/blind entitlement that it was faster for me to appeal the pip decision and send the tribunal result to them than it was to wait to be assessed by a physio.0

There must be many people, especially the elderly, who don't get benefits because they can (even just about) manage at home , that should be awarded a blue badge because they can't get about outside the home.0

It's pretty straightforward, in the two council areas that I've lived in, to apply for a blue badge without receiving benefit, just means you need to meet their alternative criteria.0

I don't think the criteria are alternative - they're much the same as for claiming the relevant benefit.0 -
Agreed, I meant alternative as in if you don't qualify by receiving the relevant benefit0

Hopefully, they will.0 -
My council don't let you have a blue badge EVEN IF you get the enhanced mobility part of PIP, unless you physically cannot walk.0

In England and Wales if you get 8 points (standard rate) on physical mobility you automatically qualify for a blue badge, councils can't refuse. If you get enhanced mobility on the mental health side then there's no automatic qualification.
In Scotland you can get one for mental illness.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0
