How often do you think about it...
...being a DFW?? Mmm, the title of the post sounds crude! I mean, do you think of it from the moment you wake until you go to bed? Or when you drive to work? When you're in town and walk past shops that you used to stick £££s into without thinking? Perhaps when your mate sticks something on a CC?? I'm just curious, I was…

Anyone heard of Eurodebt?
They rang saying they can clear debts in 12 months and all they do is send a Financial Advisor, who works out a plan and they reduce the interest etc when getting in touch with creditors. Now this sounds far to good to be true, its a free service but there must be a catch. Would it effect my credit rating?

Making sure that the TV in DS's room is switched off when he goes to sleep - even if it is only to standby on the sleep…

Martin's student loan article - question
I've read and re-read the article on whether to pay back your student loan early if you can but can't seem to see where it says about how it will affect your mortgage. It says that question is answered but then i can't see it. Can anyone answer it for me? I posted my SOA here a good few weeks ago now and things aren't…

Well I finally came clean!
I told 4 of my closest friends at the weekend about my debt. They didn't understand as each of them is excellent with managing money and none of them have ever paid interest on a credit card or struggled to get out of overdraft. But I feel so much better for being open about things. Plus I told them about this forum and…

Speeding Fine?
Hi, Just got home to a lovely letter from the traffic police telling me I've been caught by a speed camera at 81mph on a motorway (70 mph limit). I know that it's stupid (but many people do it- you can't drive on a motorway without being overtaken by everything at 70mph) so no lectures please. What I need to know is the…

Been Charged twice for the same bill
I've just posted this on the mobile phone board but thought I'd run it past the seasoned DFWers. I've just been doing some long overdue paperwork sorting, lets call it account auditing to sound posh. I've found that "3" charged me twice for a bill some time back. I never noticed as I was living in Germany at the time. The…

Does balance transfer "tarting" adversely affect your credit rating?
0% Balance Transfer Tarting -v- Low Apr for the Life of the Balance I currently have a credit card debit of £4,385. It is currently all on one Halifax credit card, with 0% interest until April 2007. :T I had planned to "tart" this credit balance from one 0% deal to another until I pay it off. However, I am starting to have…

15 yr old debt
Hi 15 years ago I had a problem with paying off an overdraft from a leading bank. I believe then debt was circa £7,500. They passed the administration of the debt over to a recovery company despite all me efforts to come to an agreement with the bank. I am still paying £15 a month to the recovery company and owe around…
