How often do you think about it...

...being a DFW??
Mmm, the title of the post sounds crude!
I mean, do you think of it from the moment you wake until you go to bed? Or when you drive to work? When you're in town and walk past shops that you used to stick £££s into without thinking? Perhaps when your mate sticks something on a CC??
I'm just curious, I was worrying before 24/7, now it's probably only 12/7!!!! Although it's no longer a worry, I just want to get my DMP out the way and be debt free again

I agree, I'd rather pay the price now at 21 than to turn round in 15 years and think about the interest, late payments and years of spending have caught up with me. At least my debt was 'good debt' with buying a house & car repairs. After this, no more credit apart from a new mortgage. I've managed for the last year and will in future, it's nice not to have any 'unexpected' bills through my door 5 times a month now.£2 Coin Savings = £0.230 -
Being debt free occupies my thoughts all most all the time; whenever I drive my old banger, whenever I go past an estate agent or a house for sale, a travel agent, when I shop for, well, anything.
I would wish away time to be debt free. It is holding up the rest of my life.Total Debt November 2016 =£9,660.52
Monthly Repayments = £593.09
Goal to be debt free December 2017/ Savings £500 :T0 -
I think about it a lot. I worry that now I'm 53 and had expected to be reasonably "comfortable" in retirement, its not going to be so easy. But then I try to count my blessings as I have a wonderful husband and great (solvent) kids.
Too many people never even make it to retirement so I worry that I worry!!0 -
I think about it habitually but not in a "must save money way".
I have began turning off lights and electrical items that are on standby from habit now rather than making a conscious decision.
I take my packed lunch to work rather than eat theirs - and I enjoy cleaning the fride out of food that needs using up rather than getting wasted - so that usually goes someway towards my packed lunch.
I walk to work and get a bus back - this I throughly enjoy now. 1 hours really good clip with an MP3 player on. I actually feel down if it is raining and threatens my walk. I usually grab my brolly and still go.
I have stopped buying clothes and I get real pleasure from making as many outfits as possible from the clothes I do have - however I was a bit of a clothesaholic previously so I have plenty of stuff to choose from.
I realised a family can live on £15'000 a year or £50'000 a year and STILL have the same lifestyle.
Its all about how careful you plan, spend, save and shop0 -
It's been in a negative way for me over the last few months, gutted that purse strings are so tight, making me miserable and thinking about stuff 24/7.
However it's all positive now, changed my attitude, example yesterday I bought 2 chickens RTC for £1.80 each (after various discounts at the checkout would be two for £6.00) instead of thinking why do I have to buy cheap stuff it's £2.40 I have got.

I wouldnt say i think about it 24/7 but i usually log on here first thing in the morning just to get my daily 'fix'!:D It gives me a boost and reminds me of what i am trying to achieve. Having said that, i dont let it totally rule my life because its important to have a life and enjoy what i can on the budget that suits me.Experience is the toughest teacher because she gives the test first then the lesson

Guy's,
I think about being debt free everyday. It becomes a bit of a compulsion to save a bit here and a bit there and chip away at the debt. Only £750.14 to go and then I need to make a start on the student loans that have been hanging around since 1995.
Since my LBM I've tried to change and budget for everything (even the rainy days) but have this horrible fear that something, somewhere, some long forgotten debt is going to come out of the dark and drag me back down. The good thing is, if it does happen I'm in a better position to tackle it now.
Cheers,

I used to think about it a lot. Now it only stresses me when people start asking for more money. Can't believe I'm having a 100% no credit christmas.Barclaycard 3800

All the bl**dy time
I am quite obsessive at the moment - I can't seem to do anything without totting up the pennies and seeing how it relates to the CC balance, how we can get more cash together to up DH's loan repayments, how we can get a deposit for a house together, how we can make stuff last longer etc.
Sometimes I get cross and I really hate having to put a price on everything, but needs must and all that.0
