Speeding Fine?

Hi,
Just got home to a lovely letter from the traffic police telling me I've been caught by a speed camera at 81mph on a motorway (70 mph limit). I know that it's stupid (but many people do it- you can't drive on a motorway without being overtaken by everything at 70mph) so no lectures please.
What I need to know is the level of fine I can expect so I can budget for it.
I have to fill in a form and send it back and I guess that they'll issue penalty points and a fine then but I get paid on Friday and would like to tuck away enough to pay the fine promptly so I can forget about it.
Thanks in advance

My offence was an SP30 which is something like 'speeding on a public road' so I imagine your's would be similar. I got a £60 fine and 3 points. I don't know if the fines are speed related but I imagine you are looking at something similar. :doh:0 -
When I got done for 59 in a 50, it was £60 and 3 points. Don't know if it is more though if you were speeding on the motorwayI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Speeding on a motorway is SP50.
Fixed penalty and points will be the same £60 and 3 points.
I guess they got you with a Talivan.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Thanks for the really quick replies.
I know the stretch of motorway that I was probably caught on and there were definitely no mobile vans on bridges etc or any speed cameras with markings on the road. I wasn't stopped by a police car - so it's a mystery to me.
I'm prepared to take responsibility for it though as it sounds like a speed that I would drive at regularly on a motorway.
60 quid it is then.

When I was done at 35mph in a 30mph zone, on a dry day, on a wide road with good pavements and no pedestrians in sight, I was a bit miffed. I voewed NEVER to help the Police again.
I tried writing to the Chief Constable but only got a standard reply.
I suggested that I didn't know who was driving and requested the evidence. I was told I could visit Midddlesbrough to view the photograph. I live 340 miles from Middlesbrough so this wasn't really viable. I believe some forces will email you the photograph.
If I get caught again, I'll ignore the first notice. It may have been lost in the post after all. Let's see how keen they are for their £60.
Don't rush into sending a cheque. I sent a cheque last time (5 years ago and still bitter!) and 'accidentally' forgot to sign it. In total, I had 4 letters before paying. £15 a letter seemed to give me a moral victory
Good luck. It's robbery.

Perhaps we should consider joining the police, as they appear to have immunity, when caught on public roads in an unmarked car driving at speeds in excess of 150 mph.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
