I have some extra money
I've managed to make an extra £260 this week through burning some CD's for work and making a wedding cake. I've lost quite abit of weight lately and OH said I should spend it on clothes because not much fits me anymore, but part of me wants to get the debt down - so potentially I could £450 off our combined debt this…

How to stop being hunted?
Its a question really. I have a ccj from 2004. I have moved twice since them, and the people dont know where i am. It is obviously going to be nearly 2007, by the time i got on the electoral roll. Now if I put my name down, how could an old debt find me? or what i mean to say is, how would they know i am the same person…

Introduction and SOA
Hello everyone, I am new to this board and have been reading through the threads over the last couple of days and it looks great. We are in need of a bit of help - my husband and I took out a mortgage based on joint salaries just 3 months ago and we have always had a few debts. We were not well off, barely comfortable…

Lowell
I received a letter from HSBC today informing me that they have sold my debt on to Lowell on 11th May. The letter is dated 26th June. I have previously asked HSBC if I have any outstanding debt with them. They said no, but only in person, when I asked outright... I then received a letter from Lowell asking me to contact…

Family debt passing on?
Hi hope someone can give some advice. My mother-in-law is German but lives here in UK & has done for 40yrs. Her brother has recently died in Germany & apparantly left loads of debt (his estate didn't cover amount owed). Creditors have tried pursuing his sons in Germany but they have refused. My mother-in-law has just…

Length of debt management plan
Hi, I have been looking at IVA's but have just seen a debt management plan. Are you more likely to be accepted for a debt management plan than an iva. With a debt management plan, how long does it last. 25 years? Would this mean that you are unable to get credit whilst in the plan? If you have an iva or debt management how…

Thanks to the DFW Who Advised on ISA "Piggy Banking"
I cannot remember where I read this now...wish I could....but a DFW recently told how they regularly transferred the odd pence from their bank balance into their cash ISA online. No more than 0.99p obviously at a time. Whoever you are....THANK YOU as I thought this was an excellent idea, absolutely brilliant for someone…

How did you get into debt?
I've just been thinking... I have nothing much to show for all the money I've spent over the years. My debt is purely the result of thinking "Oh sod it, another 30 quid on the credit card isn't going to make that much difference" and overspending EVERY month for as long as I can remember. It wouldn't be so bad if I had the…

I think I've had a 'lightbulb' moment!
Hello  I've been lurking here over the last few days, which has brought on my lightbulb moment! I sat down last night and worked out everything we owe, and to who, and had a bit of a shock to say the least. Not counting the mortgage, we owe £13861.42. I'm pretty ashamed of myself. But I'm pulling my socks up today…

Legion
I've mentioned it in another thread but thought I would throw it out generally. If you served in any of the armed forces including the TA even if it was for only one day, you are entitled to help from the British Legion. This includes grants etc for debts but I think there are certain conditions such as they won't help…

Collection and debt agencies
Just a quick thread to get your juices flowing. I decided today, that as Payplan were having some issues getting my creditors to let them know of my balances, ref numbers etc etc I would do it for them and call them back with the results. Well... What a load of biggoted, judgemental, aggressive people there are! I called…
