I have some extra money

I've managed to make an extra £260 this week through burning some CD's for work and making a wedding cake. I've lost quite abit of weight lately and OH said I should spend it on clothes because not much fits me anymore, but part of me wants to get the debt down - so potentially I could £450 off our combined debt this month. What should I do?

Could you not go to Primark and buy *some* key items of clothing - plus the sales are starting too and only spend a small portion of the money?

You do need to treat yourself too once in a while, but spending a little on you and the rest on the debts would solve both problems!

spend half on you, half on your debt
  • I would go to somewhere that does cheap clothes and spend up to the £50 on them - no more than that and put the £210 towards the debt, you will feel like you are getting somewhere and also the fact that you could pay cash for the new clothes will do you no end of good. You will still be paying £400 off your debt. Good for you - well done!!

Agree- spend some of it on you, and put the rest to debt.

or instead of the sales what about using some of the codes for £10 off no minimum spend in the catalogs? I just got a lovelly £25 swimming suit for free (reduced to just under £10 and got free delivery - aka FREE) I've had £70 suits for £12 and a £60 suit for £4... That way you can spend very little on clothes you need and more on your debts :)

Hey - I've been in EXACTLY this situation this month, nothing fitted, but paying off the debt was soooo tempting! In the end, I borrowed my mum's sewing machine and took all my existing trousers and skirts in a couple of inches -(dead easy, pm if you want instructions - can be done by hand in the short term too)and then spent £20 on an array of £2 tops at Asda - feel like I have a whole new wardrobe! I toyed with nuying some new stuff, but seeing as I plan to lose even more weight, that seems like a bit of a waist (pardon the pun!).Hope that helps.xxx

    I hope those CD's were legit ;)

Sounds a bit dodgy to me!
