Thanks to the DFW Who Advised on ISA "Piggy Banking"

I cannot remember where I read this now...wish I could....but a DFW recently told how they regularly transferred the odd pence from their bank balance into their cash ISA online. No more than 0.99p obviously at a time.
Whoever you are....THANK YOU as I thought this was an excellent idea, absolutely brilliant for someone like me who can't commit to any large sums of money monthly into her cash ISA, but can just pop the odd pennies over online every time she's online & checking the account.
I can definitely see that the little & often approach will be useful and it will be great to see my mini cash ISA build up like a 'piggy bank' with a lower impact on the bill account.
So...thanks again :T and good luck with yours too!

Yeah that does sound like a good idea actually! I think I'll start doing that! The trouble with online banking is if I'm struggling at the end of the month and see a tenner in my isa I transfer it over! Probably because I couldn't afford to save that much in the first place. Will try the pennies and coppers approach instead, and stop spending it on crap instead!1st LBM (Pre-Career Change): 01 March 2006 Debt Free Date: 28 April 2008 | Worst Debt: £7244.36

you know, i remember this thread too. i started doing this with my ordinary savings account (don't have an isa), quite unconsciously just tapping away any extra pence into the savings whenever i see it there. saved a tenner in the time that i've been doing this (can't be that long)
i thought it was a brilliant idea and like you, felt it was an easy way to save without taking huge chunks out of the debt paying money.
so thank you from me as well!!MFW Newbie - #17. (#116 in 2019)

Did think a while ago about setting up a standing order for £1.00 a month as still want to add to my ISA but can't afford the £50.00 a month I was saving before we moved to a bigger house. Might consider doing it now and then the other couple of pounds I have left over throw at my debt. Not a huge difference I know but it might feel like I'm achieving both my goals, saving and debt busting.Did owe £9,951.96

I try and take a look at my current account every couple of days and round it down to the nearest £5 putting the couple of pounds or whatever into my savings. Adds up and isn't too noticeableDFW Nerd #104 I :heartpuls my Kitten
