Only one free check with Experian?
I signed up with Experian for a check but it wouldn't let me log in. Turns in i registered a few years ago & forgot. I'd done the same with Equifax, but they allowed me another free check the other day. I got on the phone to Experian who gave me my log in details. They said though that if i was to go through the log in…

MBNA card deactified.
I had a letter from MBNA recently stating that my credit card will be deactivated on 2nd April. This is because of information received from a number of sources including Visa, MasterCard & American Express. A new card with a new number & Pin will be sent within 7 working days. I find this most annoying as several…

About to apply for a credit card.
I'm on Credit Expert at the moment and it says my credit rating is 725 and 'fair'. Yesterday I applied for an Argos card because mum's washer packed in and none of us have the money to buy one out right at the moment. Today I got an email saying I had been turned down. I am considering applying for a credit card, and…

Excellent credit rating but still refused card application
Title says it all. My credit report is excellent. Have today applied for a credit card through my bank and it has been refused. Checked report last night and found something regarding a Barclaycard that was used years ago and settled in full, but I was still issued with a new card every now and then even though I no longer…

Interesting (?) NatWest CC event
Earlier this week I did a few calcs and worked out that paying off the remainder of my NatWest loan by transferring an amount from my NatWest CC to my current account, then immediately transferring to another card at 0% (2.9% fee) for 12 months was much cheaper than simply paying the loan. Anyway, I made the money transfer…

CapitalOne - pre-auth over limit?
I have one of the basic CapitalOne credit cards with a lousy £200 limit. I am soon hiring a car, and from what I understand, a deposit will be pre-authorised from my card, and will be much higher than my limit. Will the card actually allow it? If so, would I pay the over-limit penalty fee? I did actually have a similar…

Does a credit-build credit card affect credit score?
I have bad credit history, but understand that having a credit card can help to rebuild a good score. I heard that the use of pay day loans can affect your score negatively. Is the same true of credit-build type credit cards like Aqua and Vanquis? Thanks, Sue

Vanquis query
I think I have been monumentally stupid-got into trouble 2 or three years ago with vanquis-card was cancelled-I was then able to make a lump sum payment to get the account back in credit( about 2 1/2 years ago) after that I just left the account alone, the minimum payment ( I know I know) coming out by d/d. My question is;…

If I make a payment to someone with my cc via paypal (not ebay) would it be classed as a cash withdrawal? Somebody on another thread said that when they made a deposit to a bingo site with their cc (direct, not through pp) that this happened so it got me wondering. I've got a santander zero card. TIA :)

Caital One
I have been paying off a capital one credit card for around four years by direct debit (the card was stopped and so was the interest). I have never received any statements to the fact. Recently I got a letter telling me they had sold my debt to CapQuest. They say that I still owe £779. Now Cap Wuest are harrassing me on…

How to close Capital One Account?
Hi all, sorry if this has been covered elsewhere on here. I'm planning on applying for a %0 balance transfer offer to shift my Capital One Card balance. I would imagine the sensible thing to do if I am successful would be to close the Capital One account. I don't fancy spending an eternity on the phone trying to close this…

Credit Card charges made by Merchants
I would be grateful if someone would clarify as to the legitimacy of charging to use a credit card? I seem to remember the rule Visa & Mastercard used to apply forbade it and merchants could loose the service if they charged when cards were used? It appears to be on the increase and when I questioned my insurance broker…
