Minimum Interest - Is it legal?
How can credit card companies get away with charging a minimum amount of interest? Next month my Barclaycard will charge me a minimum of £1 interest per month regardless of how little I actually owe on the card (at the moment it's 50 per month). Surely this practice renders their quoted APR figures as nonsense. Some might…

Do various levels of card require various levels of credit rating
Apols if this has been asked, I have searched and not found. I am going to apply for a Natwest CC. I have a current account with them. My credit rating is OK, but not perfect. Based on my income etc I am fine to apply for a platinum card rather than the basic or in between card. My question is this- do cc companies apply…

TV license by credit card
Looks like you can now pay for this by credit card [must phone an 0870 number though - so best done at the w/e]. Has any one any experience of doing this? I presume there is no difference in the cost? Thanks EDIT 07/10: Thanks for all your observations below. These have been very infomative - shame I didn't notice this…

Refused by Barclaycard - a problem?
Hi all... After Martins recent article I applied for the no BT fee Barclaycard as I have around £15000 stoozed at the moment. I was initally accepted but then received a letter stating that after re-evaluation my application had been refused. Its very much a standard letter stating that because of the other money I have…

Credit Limit - IF
Hi all, I've just cancelled my Lloyds TSB Platinum as they refused to give me a 0% BT as existing customer. I've also cancelled a dormant C/A with barclays. I currently only hold a Sainsbury's Platinum with an outs balance of 2,800. I am intending to apply to an IF C/C as my 0% deal with Sainsburys expires in the 1st week…

Nationwide - Weird and annoying policies
I had a balance on my Nationwide Credit Card of £1.5k that I payed off via an online bank transfer last week. I went to use my card 6 days later to get a small cash advance, not the best money saving plan but I couldn't find my cash card and for £1.50 I wasn't spending ages searching when other events were awaiting, card…

Re-applying for a card after cancelling it?
Hi all, possibly a stupid question here... I had a Capital One Platinum card which I cancelled about 4 to 6 months ago in a bid to reduce the number of cards I had (did have 5 at my peak, now down to 2 which I'm trying to pay off asap). Since then, however, I realised that it gave me the best purchase and balance transfer…

Natwest 9m BT card - Now a 2% fee for non-Natwest account holders?
I have seen the Natwest card listed as one of the best for BTs (no fee for 9 months) but I just started to apply and came accross this on the balance transfer page: Transfer & Save lets you transfer balances from your higher rate credit and store cards to your NatWest Credit Card so you can start saving money right away.…

Egg card - beware of bug in billing software!
Beware, check your CC and current account statements! Egg's software mistakenly debited an amount to my c/a: A minimum payment of £18.43 was due to be debited on 3rd Oct. But I had already paid the card off in full by 22nd Sep. Therefore nothing should've been debited to my c/a. But to my surprise, I found that £1.47 had…

Hi All, I have a MBNA Platinum Plus card with a balance of around £1500 on it. It is currently 1.9% until April 2006 (for all of the balance). Reduce monthly repayments
Hi All I'm brand new to this forum, so forgive me if I'm asking silly questions. In my infinite wisdom I've purchased a car and transferred the balance of the car from my bank account to my M&S Money 0% card. Something I didn't check beforehand though is that they require a minimum 3% monthy payment. Before I did the…
