Student Accommodation payments
Hi I'm new to this so not sure if this is the right place to post this thread but hoping so. We have two children who have started university this year. Their student loans do not cover the accommodation costs and so we have opted to pay their rental and they can then use their loan to live off. However like many people we…

Payment made by bank to bank transfer on line -company has not delivered
I made a schoolboy error and paid a deposit of £7500 for a conservatory that I have little faith that it will be installed. I have a feeling the company is in financial difficulties. I am being given the run around at the moment. Unfortunately I paid via a transfer from my account to theirs via on line banking. Is there…

Issues finding a basic bank account.
Hi. I read the sticky thread on here re basic bank accounts (for those with credit issues), but I can't seem to find any basic accounts anywhere (ie the Citilink one that was recommended, no longer offers it via the site). Is it still possible to apply online, or do you have to request it in the bank? I tried Barclays…

Santander security - payment to wrong account
I recently purchased a mobile home and my branch of Santander set up a CHAPS payment for 90% of the purchase price and a very fast payment for the 10% payable to the site owners. Santander security refused to allow the 10% payment to go through until I went into the branch in my new home town. The branch called security…

Halifax cutting staff
I hold my current account and several savings accounts with the Halifax in Kidderminster. Up to about 12 months ago, this branch had 5 tellers windows, which were then reduced to three by blocking off the two outer ones. This month, of the three remaining windows, two have now been blocked off by advertisement boards,…

Barclays Overdraft
Hi, I've recently opened a Barclays Premier account after meeting the criteria I felt that opening an account would be a good step in the right direction Account comes with no overdraft. I've requested one. Barclays says this is because I am new to the bank and they have no experience of dealing with me. I appreciate that…

Barclays
Hi I received an email from Barclays about changes that are being applied to my standard account, the only option is to close the account should I not agree. Do they seem fairly standard? I'm particularly concerned about the HMRC part. Changes to how and when we can make changes to your account • The length of notice we…

Barclays Bus. Account - Tax Compliance
Hi all, I have a business bank account with Barclays and have been asked to submit a Tax Compliance form, however no-one i have spoken to knows anything about them? I have asked my Dads accountant, he doesn't know, he has then asked his bank and they don't know anything about it either? I think I will have to give Barclays…

Joint International Bank Account
Hi everyone, Apologies if I've put this in the wrong forum, but I couldn't find anywhere else for it to go. My girlfriend lives in Norway, I live here in the UK. Lloyds Account Upgrade
I've currently got a Club Lloyds account, but I'm thinking of upgrading to the Club Lloyds Platinum, as I would benefit from all of the added extras. From previous threads, I've explained that I can't really make any more credit applications due to a number being made in the last six months. Does anybody know whether I'd…

U Account "Un-Banking" - Anyone heard of them ?
I know an account called "UAccount" was launched in 2009 which was a children's savings account but this seems more like a full bank account for anyone to use, albeit with three different payment tiers depending on what kind of usage you want. https://www.uaccount.uk/ The 'free' banking occurs a £1 charge on most outgoing…

Your application has been successful - don't want the loan anymore, do I need to do
anything? It was an online application it just says it's been accepted and 'Please read all of the agreement pack carefully (...) etc. I assume that if I don't send it back, that's it, I don't need to phone them and cancel anything right? The email from them didn't explain : (
