Payment made by bank to bank transfer on line -company has not delivered

Options
I made a schoolboy error and paid a deposit of £7500 for a conservatory that I have little faith that it will be installed. I have a feeling the company is in financial difficulties. I am being given the run around at the moment. Unfortunately I paid via a transfer from my account to theirs via on line banking.
Is there anyway I can get this back. I know I should have paid with credit card but I didn't a any advice appreciated
Thank you
Dawn

Not through the banking system, you authorised the transfer and the bank can't counter that. Legal action is your best bet, but that will only work if they are actually in breach of contract. If they do go bust then you'll be an unsecured creditor at the back of the queue to be paid.

How far away is their place from you?

For £7,500 a day trip to sit in their offices might get you some answers.

On what basis? The OP authorised the transaction and the money was sent to the specified account. I can't see either the sending or receiving banks getting involved in what is a civil dispute.

Exactly and the advice given on here at times is quite wrong and maybe people have the best intentions but should really think before they type also.

As for going to see them if they are local maybe do that but if it is a round trip and a day out I really think this will achieve nothing so probably a waste of time.

If they have stated that you are not getting the job done or have missed a scheduled start date then look into legal action, If you believe they going to the wall then try that also but you would need some real luck on your side if they are closing down due to financial trouble to get your full amount back.
  • Please tell me you stuck a £1 deposit on a credit card first.

Very doubtful when they said 7500 paid via bank transfer.

If not, perhaps it might be worth doing so now if they're still trading? ;)

Sometimes the obvious action can be missed. Good call.
