Barclays post-dated stamp in paying-in book
As the title says. Only just noticed it, is it usual practice for end of day transactions? On Friday 8th October, at my local branch of Barclays at around 4.15pm, I made 2 deposits, one cash, one cheques into my Barclays business account. The slips in the paying-in books were both stamped date-stamped 11th October 2010 by…

Sky Failed Direct Debit
Having been with sky in the past, and depite my reservations about their abysmal customer services which I have experienced in the past, I (foolishly) decided to reinstate my subscription to them and opted for the TV/Phone/Broadband. So far so good. Having had a window broken by one of their 'engineers' who half installed…

Some of you will have seen my thread on Lloyds TSB and our overdraft. I thought Id start a new thread for some more advice/feedback from more experienced bankers! Having looked at the info on here, MSE says we may be best suited to move to Santander with their 5 percent etc, however, Im a bit confused with all the negative…

How long does it take for a Cheque to Clear from the same bank ?
Does anyone know how long it takes for an RBS > RBS or Natwest > Natwest cheque to clear. The guy on the phone told me it was a normal clearing cycle, but i'm not sure he's right. I know for sure that a Halfax > Halifax cheque clears at the end of the day, and instantly if you ask them at the cashier desk.

So HSBC have decided that its now ok to transfer money between my current and savings accounts as they choose? First instance of this was on 30th September, they transfered funds from my Savings to current account, without my permission in order to cover a direct debit. I then transfered remaining funds from savings to…

Smile - faster payment limits

Overdraft Recall - Scaremongering?
Hi All Im new to the forums. Just wanted to pick you brains really! Hubby and I live on a fairly tight budget (same as everyone!), but since I qualified from university just under 2 years ago, we've been making a concerted effort to pay back our rather large overdrafts. We bank jointly with Lloyds TSB and over the past few…

Is it worth hanging on?
My wife and I have accounts with The Derbyshire BS which was then taken over by Nationwide. We have other Nationwide accounts too. Is there any point in keeping the Derbyshire accounts in case of Nationwide demutualising? We've had the Derbyshire accounts for more than 5 years and the Nationwide accounts would not entitle…

Overdraft Management with moving banks
So I have been a customer with Barclays forever, althrough student year and 3 beyond. I still have a big overdraft with them (£2300) which I move up and down through in a month, but I haven't been in the black since 2000  But I would like to move banks. Beside the fact that on a number of occasions Barclays customer…

So I made a mistake.
I did a transfer of a considerable amount of money but the sort code was wrong on internet banking. Luckily it went to an invalid account. It will take 8 days to bounce back? Why so long? I realise I'm very lucky, what if it had gone to a real account? Would I have got it back? I did check my typing 3x and checked the…
