HSBC requesting ID
Hi, After getting frustrated with LTSB, I applied for an HSBC Bank Account last week. Today I get a letter asking for a proof of ID (Passport) and address (LTSB statement) to be taken to an HSBC branch to be processed. Also, on the last page is a box to provide a specimen signature. Would they go to all this trouble if I…

My first dealings with Santander ...
... the 6% current account tempted me, if only to prove a point, but initial communications are not good. Are they as incompetent as my initial impressions suggest? Have I led a sheltered life with First Direct for the last 18 years or so?

How fussy are First Direct about current account applicants?
Hi, I've got a decent credit score and have had no problems getting credit cards and overdrafts with other banks. I'm thinking of switching to FD purely to get their £100 bonus, then switch away again. But I'm wondering how fussy they are about applicants: as long as I can fulfil the £1500 monthly credit, will they mind if…

Fought with the bank and won - Got my £££ back :)
Some time ago (3 weeks) I had £350 stolen in card fraud. HSBC returned half of it and said they won't return other half as the transaction was done through secure website which is by the way the most ridiculous excuse they could find as I am an IT professional. I challenged their explanation and asked for proofs, also…
