Hello there. I am seriously considering moving my current account and overdraft from HSBC to Alliance & Leicester having read Martin Lewis's advices. However, I have been reluctant to take the first step until I have convinced in my own mind that I am not jeopardising my credit rating and financial history. For instance,…

A&L online bill service DISAPPEARS!
Just want to vent my spleen re my A&L "online" account - this weekend I went to pay an urgent bill online and, lo and behold, found that the 'create a new payee' option is missing. I had to phone up (we're talking about my online account here) to find out what on earth was going on. The woman on the phone informed me, "the…

Banks opening hours
My partner and I have a current account each. We want to open a joint account to pay £600/month into each, to pay our new mortgage and bills. Today, we tried unsuccessfully at 3 banks to do this. They all closed at 12.30 (Saturday) and all were fully booked for appointments to see a personal banker all morning. 2 of the 3…

Nearly as good as the Barclays offer?
I missed the Barclays offer :( But I've discovered that if you get accepted for First Direct, they give you £50. And if you apply through FreeFivers, they give you £22.50 on top. :j You do have to have your salary paid in to this account, which is a bit of a pain, but I wanted an account in my married name anyway. If your…

I can't get a new account with what I WANT
I have tried to open 3 accounts over the past 2 years. Natwest, Nationwide and Llyods TSB have all turned be down a usual account with debit/or simular cards. Switching Current Account & Credit References
Hi Please can anyone say whether or not switching current accounts has any effect on applying for credit in the future. A & L rate
HI, I've had the 5% rate for my account for a year now so it's dropped down to the lower level. New customers are getting the 5% still. Is it worth saying I'll close the account unless I'm bumped back up to the 5%? They should be showing loyalty to their existing customers, not just the new ones! Cheers!
