Nearly as good as the Barclays offer?

Options
I missed the Barclays offer :(

But I've discovered that if you get accepted for First Direct, they give you £50. And if you apply through FreeFivers, they give you £22.50 on top. :j

You do have to have your salary paid in to this account, which is a bit of a pain, but I wanted an account in my married name anyway. If your employer (or wages dept) is as nice as mine, it does sound worth doing - or have I missed something?

Annie Fanny, don't feel bad about not knowing about cashback sites - you have a huge advantage already over millions of people who don't know either - and who haven't found MSE yet!

Quidco is one of many cashback sites - with one difference: they pay you a lot more than most.

All cashback sites operate with similar principles - they get paid by merchants if they refer you to the merchants. They then, about 2-3 months after you made the transaction, pay you usually a proportion of the payment they received from the merchant (provided you have reached the minimum payout level of the cashback site).

Most of the cashback sites fund themselves from the merchant payments, so on some you get only part of the merchants payments. TopCashBack is the only cashback site that pays you everything they get, Quidco charge £5 per annum and you get all the rest. They both have a minimum £25 payout level. Rpoints only have a very low £5 min payout level, and probably the most complete set of merchants, but they only pay you part of the merchant payments. I would recommend that unless you buy a lot on the web you focus on just these three and don't bother with the others (otherwise you never get paid anything!)

Have a look round the above sites, it's a whole new world, and a nice one at that!! I only discovered them recently myself but already have made £340 from purchases that I would have made anyway, and without the 'bonus' money!!!

Be sure you read the terms and conditions of each site, and also the T&Cs of each individual offer you take up.
