I can't get a new account with what I WANT

Options
I have tried to open 3 accounts over the past 2 years. Natwest, Nationwide and Llyods TSB have all turned be down a usual account with debit/or simular cards.

One can only assume this is because of my credit rating, but how they apply this is not known by myself.

They only offer me one with a cash card and basic facilities, i'm not looking for fancy offers or big overdrafts or offset deals etc.

Will any of them take me on, will they just decline me, I don't want to keep on applying for accounts.

Will they discuss the reason why they have turned me down etc, or will it be the usual we have assessed you rating this and the other and no.

Thanking anyone who replies.

This happened to me a number of years a go. As you say they don't usually tell you why they will not accept you. It turned out that because I had moved house I was not on the electoral register at the address I was giving them. Are you sure you are ok wth that?

Will any of them say that if you open an account and run it satisfactorily for, say, six months they would reconsider and offer you a debit card facility then?

  • If the credit score comes up with any debt/ccj's registered against you then that still won't stop you getting the very basic accounts, cashcard but no o/d or chq book, they just won't give you a standard current account with cq book & full maestro debit card - if they can't confirm your current address by specific documentation (as just not any old letter with an address will suffice) or the correct ID then they can't offer you anything

Yep as confirmed the letter states i'm to go into a branch to open a basic job if I wish, will pop in and say whether they will let me open a better account after 6 months or so.

Its most probable that its due to poor credit rating, somthing that is due to be corrected.

How long do missed payments last on credit files?
How long do bounced DD or CHQs last on credit files ?
How long do unauthorised OD last on credit files ?
How long do Credit account defaults last on credit files ?

    any answers to these questions.
