Which internet provider should I go for?
Hi, Moving into a new flat with a friend at the end of the month, and am looking at different internet providers. Was thinking about going with Sky, as phone line is £12.50 and then with 6 months free unlimited broadband (then £7.50) after. Plus can get money through a cashback site. Is this good? any catches with this?…

Primus Saver (MSE link)
I just applied for Primus Saver phone and broadband using the MSE link/offer. I also found a promotion code for free P&P, which the online order process accepted - and knocked the price to pay upfront down accordingly. Just received an e-mail from Primus saying the code is not valid... I guess we're at the application…

Gaming with O2 All Rounder Package
I have a PS3, I play it about twice a week for 4 hours at a time (nerdish I know) and on top of that I use my connection to work (mostly looking at websites) and the occasional movie stream/download. I just want to get off Virgin, their prices have shot up a lot since I joined and they are unreliable. Will this package do…

MAC Code
Hi We are currently in the process of moving from BT to Sky. My OH spoke to BT and the person apparently said that they want £30 for the MAC code. Looking at the sticky at the top, I understood that this should be free. Has he been misinformed or got the wrong end of the stick, r is this some other fee that BT charge?…

Downloading while machines aren't in use?
Just having a look at my daily download figures. I'm with Zen & they offer these stats in their portal. Apparently i'm doing 2GB a day. I thought this is quite high. There is a password on the wireless network. My question is - can the phone line be downloading "things" while no machine is running? All PCs turned off,…

Broadband - Hull Area
Hi all, This is my first post, so please be nice. I'm about to become a new home owner in Brough, East Yorkshire which is part of the catcment for Kington Comms. What i'd like to know is if there is any way of not having to use Kingston Comms for Broadband. I'm not interested in having a landline if that makes any…

Sky vs Virgin (in Brighton area)
Hi all Looking for some opinions, really. I watch literally no TV, but use a lot of Broadband, and need a package to watch F1 this year. (FTR, I'm not considering using a proxy or a dish to pick up RTL with 5 live cover - I want proper UK TV coverage for F1!) I have two choices: Sky: £42.50 a month, up to £50 after 6…

BT Home Hub Help
Currently have BT for phone line & Virgin for unlimited calls and broadband (we can’t get cable). Finally decided to make an effort to try and get a better deal so am thinking of going for the BT £16 deal of unlimited phone calls + basic broadband. Would also do the pay phone rental up front for £120. Reckon this could…

Slow Talktalk
At present, I'm suffering slow speed on Talktalks BB. I have D.L. speeds of approx 3.5mbps and streaming of .5mbps - this makes BBC Iplayer and other tvcatchups near unuseable. I've contacted Talktalk forum and have been told "I am sorry, I'm afraid its not good news - We have had confirmation from our Ops team that,…

Cheapest way of accessing internet in France...
Hello All, I'm brand new here so please be gentle :) This is sort of an internet/phone crossover so I tried to place in most relevant forum. I currently spend 3+ months of the year in France and have a need for internet there. I've looked into cost of installing internet over there and it would cost some vast sum to get a…

Virgin Media price rises on the way
I'm currently with VM on their 50mb package that is the fastest available in my area. The quality of the connection isn't great though. They've announced their speed increases in my area and I've received promotional material informing me that work will soon begin to increase the download speed to 120Mbps - No word on…

Considering Virgin Media broadband
I currently use Orange (BT WBC) broadband but the speed has always been a problem - only around 1mbps at the moment due to a recent increase in attenuation and noise on the line (Openreach can't fix it). Virgin have their cable running down our street so I'm considering their broadband service at the moment but I have a…

talk talk gripe
I just wanted to flag up a warning about talk talk's aggressive throttling (cutting bandwidth back) in the evenings. They are certainly cheaper our previous deal, but we have not had problems streaming on multiple laptops until now.. Our previous provider's service never had a problem with up to four people all doing their…

How to go about formally complaining--speed problems
Hi, I normally post on the oldstyle board so if I've not gone through the proper process for asking this question or should be posting elsewhere please let me know. I've had broadband and a landline with Or*nge for several months now. I've had a mobile with them for quite a bit longer. Over the past few months my broadband…

Internet swap
Hi all, I have just moved in to a shared house and my flatmates have a broadband connection that is very slow and keeps breaking. I want to get my own connection in addition to theirs - is it possible to have two connections working at once next to each other even if they are locked in to a contract? Thanks, Matt

Best 'low user' broadband
Hi All, Trying to sort out a new broadband account for a relative. Most that I have looked at require you to sign up for line rental/tv and all sorts of stuff. Requirements are: *Broadband service only (BT Line). No tie ins to mobiles, TV or call plans, just basic broadband needed. *Low monthly useage (<3GB). Account will…

What's the best way to get BB installed, but still keep it possible to get sky tv installed later? 1) Use sky moving home service but just cancel all TV and…
