MAC Code

Hi

We are currently in the process of moving from BT to Sky. My OH spoke to BT and the person apparently said that they want £30 for the MAC code.

Looking at the sticky at the top, I understood that this should be free. Has he been misinformed or got the wrong end of the stick, r is this some other fee that BT charge?

A MAC code is not chargeable, it is simply an option to quit.
Any ISP may impose a £30 cease charge if a MAC is not used to migrate though.
Is it perhaps an ETC if they are still in minimum term?

No, we are long outside the original contract term...years.

I will get him to call back to confirm what they are charging him for. Sky said they could do it without the MAC code, but that there could be a break in service. Hmmm.

Not that I am aware of... can't see anything when I log in on line to tell me.

Will have to get him to phone and ask what the charge is in respect of.
