Mobile upgrade during bankrupt year
Hi all I hope everyone's doing well. I am in my bankrupt year and my mobile phone contract is due to be renewed. My old phone broke months ago and need a new one as the one I borrowed is broken. Husband was going to put this in his name (he pays it anyway!) on renewal. He called and arranged it all for me but turns out…

OR or Trustee
I wonder if anyone could shed some light on this for me How, when and why is a trustee appointed in bankruptcy, and can the creditors influence this decision? In my case the only potential contentious point is my previous property, which my ex-wife sold about 18 months ago, paid off the mortgage and used the proceeds to…

OR done, what next?
Hi all, i've spent so much of the last 6 weeks or so prepping for and fretting about the OR meeting that I've given seldom thought to how things move on thereafter...obviously this varies markedly on a case by case basis, my key concern is not to do anything stupid How much OR input can one expect moving forward, in my…

SAO Review Please - See post #32
I'll keep it simple. I was made redundant in July and have been trying to find work ever since. Total household bills equate to around £3000 a month including £1000 or so of my own personal debt. We are desparate to leave London but cannot as we are tied to the property for another 12 months. We have used all savings and…

GE Money and Credit File clean up
Hi, I was discharged from Bankruptcy in Jan 15. I have been working hard on cleaning up my credit file to ensure that all the info is correct. I'm having a nightmare getting GE Money Home Lending to properly report the default. When I was declared BR, it seems that the OR didn't notify them. I had never defaulted on the…

I thought I would update on my meeting with the OR The 'examiner' I was due to see had called in sick so the appointment was taken by someone I suspect was his junior, v.friendly young chap- Pleasantly painless, despite my paranoia that they were going to have it in for me..as implied by various posters on this forum he…

Thank you MSE and some positivity
Hi Everyone. Back in 2009 MSE (bacjk when all this was green fields :) really helped me in a difficult part of my life. I lost 10 years work, all my businesses and all my assets after making a badly timed purchase of a new business just prior to the credit crunch. I declared myself bankrupt in March 2009 (I was the 208th…

NT tax code...
Hi all, I became bankrupt at the end of September. I recently received a letter from HMRC saying that my tax code had changed to NT. I understand that this tends to happen if you're a tax payer who may be liable to pay into an IPA, but a) I only work 15 hours per week and don't pay tax anyway and b) as far as I'm aware,…

Letter to creditors IPA
In the letter to creditors by my OR it says no meeting will be held and there is no realistic prospect of a distribution of funds. Does this mean I won't be getting an IPA?

Council tax vs housing benefit
Re a previous thread of mine, advising that current outstanding council tax and arrears (of which I have both) qualify for bankruptcy, will this impact my housing benefit? I.e will the council deduct HB from the unpaid council tax, or some other mechanism Seems unlikely but I'm doing the questionnaire today and tomorrow…
