on the list of creditors it asks for 'date incurred' of the debt
what should one put for various credit card debts etc which span a period of time-some of my credit card debts are ancient and I have no idea of the date range specific to the outstanding debt

I used the date of default, perhaps use your credit report for the default date?0

ok thanks, this may sound weird, and blame my 'bury head in the sand' approach over recent years, but where do I start getting hold of my credit report?0

You can go through noddle which operate reports for Callcredit, considered the least accurate of the 3, but justifiable for default dates as it 'should' be accurate enough in terms of where you obtained the information in the OR's eyes.
Clearscore is another, these use Equifax data.
Finally, Experian.
If you sign up to any of these services online, be sure you don't incur fees after any trial, always cancel.
You can apply for a statutory report for £2 from any of the 3 credit reference agencies, this can take a while to view/receive in the mail.
Could you phone your creditors for the information? In my case it took an age that way but yours might be easier? If you can't get the information try and recall the year and month, it gives the OR a starting point.0 -
You can put a rough estimate of the date you took out the card as that would be roughly when the debt was first incurred as I guess you would have used it when you first got it, so incurring debt.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

I just put ?1993 onward on mine (for example). There were no questions - they can get more detailed information if needed.0
